'Kay, here's the scenario. My "friend" :) tries to bleed me. I block 'im, and he uses Form of Mist. I've got a Majesty in my hand. Will playing it make it so that his action does not continue at +1 stealth? Thanks, -"Erik"

[ quoted text not captured ] No. Since both strikes are "Strike: Combat Ends", they resolve simultaneously. You opponent continues the action at +1 stealth and you (if superior) can pay 1 blood to untap. -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@regency.wizards.com) Official VtES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. Thats done with either thoughts betrayed, an immortal grapple, the dog pack, or reacted to by a psyche. When you majesty and untap you do have the option of blocking again, if you can generate another +1 intercept. James B.

If I remember corecctly, superior Psyche prevents him to continue his action. -- Michael Beer, Dortmund, Germany, ICQ 1175389 -------------------------------------------- Life is founded on Chaos. Since he's got the acting minion his strike precedes your strike. regards -- Brian Rasmussen Dansk Data Elektronik A/S Tel.: (+45) 42 84 84 33 (589) Herlev Hovedgade 199 Fax : (+45) 42 84 52 20 DK-2730 Herlev, Denmark e-mail: b...@dde.dk

Not strictly correct. The only thing that he gets for being the acting minion is that he must choose his strike first. Being the acting minion has no bearing on the order in which strikes resolve. Strikes resolve in the following order based on the nature of the strike. If both strikes are of the same nature, they resolve simultaneously. 1) Strike: Combat Ends 2) Strike: Dodge 3) First Strike 4) other So, since both strikes are of type 1), they resolve at the same time. This results in the acting minion continuing the action at +1 stealth and the blocking minion getting the option to untap (if he has superior presence). [ quoted text not captured ]

Okay, I know that Form of Mist has been errated since this, but I don't think it should have been. I was under the impression that any effect from a card that I can't play part of, I can't play eg I can't use Acrobatics (Dodge with additional strike) to get the additional strike only but not dodge. This would mean that I could only play Form of Mist (at superior) when I was doing an action, not when blocking an action. It's a slightly different point than the one that was just raised but it does need addressing a little. -- James Coupe.

Well, sure look like I missed some important details there. Does that also imply that two minions can play Majesty at the same time and both use the untap feature of that card? cu [ quoted text not captured ]

The general rule is that you can play a card even if you can only use part of its effect. Like using Anarch Troublemaker to tap only one minion if you Prey doesn't have two untapped minions. But, several specific rules prevent you from playing certain effects, regardless of whether you intend to use them or not: You cannot play intercept unless you need it (ostensibly - I don't want to get into this right now). So you can't play 2nd Tradition for the untap when you don't need the intercept *because* it has intercept - even if you don't intend to use it. There is also a rule against using more than one additional-strike gaining effect in a round of combat, which prevents you from playing Acrobatics even if you only want the dodge - because it is an additional-strike gaining effect. > This would mean that I could only play Form of Mist (at superior) when I > was doing an action, not when blocking an action. As a blocker, your "continue action" effect is lost. If the rule against gaining stealth when you didn't need it was still in place, then you couldn't use Form of Mist as a blocker, since you obviously don't need the stealth. (And that makes sense, since if you go Misty, you'll have a hard time impeding the acting minion). But, the fact remains that the rule against adding stealth only applies during block attempts, so...
