I ran into this one, and would like a ruling. As it stood an Assamite
burned the lovely Joquina Amaya to take care of a short lived Sensory
Deprivation. (I didn't think to question the order of play until after
the game was over)
Joquina played illusions of the kindred (love that card!), combat ends
and immediately restarts with a highly disposable vampire (preferably
you play a trap at this point).
After the combat was over my opponent played Psyche to get into combat
with the vampire that he really was after, Joquina. Psyche restarts
combat. But in this situation who is the actual combatant? Is there a
point in the combat that he could've played Psyche to fight with
Joquina? Does Illusions give immunity to such efforts?
Somebody argued that psyche could be played immediately after Illusions
is played, two combats would be queued up and the Illusionary combat
would resolve first, followed by the "real" fight.
I argue that psyche just doesn't work, you restart combat with a vampire
that is just not there (just as if you tried it after you burned the
vamp).
And the ruling is...?
