Yet another baleful doll question (LSJ)

Okay, one last question about baleful doll. This came up the other night. If you choose a vampire with it and that vampire is no longer in play, can the doll still be burned during your untap phase to make the vamp lose three blood? If not, you're stuck with the baleful doll and can't bring out another one because it's unique. Thanks, Neil Paananen
