Here is the situation: I have Emerson Bridges with 5 blood, Rake with 6 blood, Timothy Crowley with 6 blood and Democritus with 2 blood. I have 4 blood in my pool. My opponent has Badger, Bear Paw, William Andor and Rickie van Dempsey. She has 2 blood in her pool. On my turn, Democritus calls a vote and plays Ancilla Empowerment. My opponent can not block. I then play the action modifier Voter Captivation. The question is: How many votes do I have? Is it ten (three votes for Democritus, six for the three princes and one for the Vote card itself) or is it just one for the vote card. My opponent claims unless the vote is a tie I can not use either other vote cards and/or action modifier cards or use my Princes/Primogens/Justicars for further votes. I agree that it is illegal that I may not dump vote and/or action modifier cards that give me extra votes. However, I feel that I can still use my Princes/ Primogens/Justicars to vote. The reasoning is because they are already in play and they can do whatever they want to within the rules. The next logical question is if I do get the ten votes in the previous situation do I win? Democritus has superior Presence thus I can gain up two blood to my pool. Thus I lose four pool because of Ancilla Empowerment which drains me to zero and then gain two because of Voter Captivation while Democritus returns to full strength gaining eight blood.

You can cast as many votes as you have; you can even use action modifiers to get more votes when you've already won. It's not like stealth and intercept.

-> On my turn, Democritus calls a vote and plays Ancilla Empowerment. -> My opponent can not block. I then play the action modifier -> Voter Captivation. I can't find my copy of VC, but isn't it played after the vote? (Optimal situation; play Ancilla Empowerment, then gasp and say, "Oh no, I only have 4 pool! Can I take that back? Pleeeeeze? (sob)" Opponent gleefully does not block and casts all his his votes FOR it. _Then_ you grin and play Voter Captivation. -> The question is: -> -> How many votes do I have? Is it ten (three votes for Democritus, six -> for the three princes and one for the Vote card itself) or is it -> just one for the vote card. My opponent claims unless the vote is a -> tie I can not use either other vote cards and/or action modifier -> cards or use my Princes/Primogens/Justicars for further votes. The reasoning is -> because they are already in play and they can do whatever they want -> to within the rules. In Jyhad, you may vote however you wish, and burn vote cards as you see fit... you can even play Charming Oration for another 4. I think that in VtES you cannot burn cards that you don't need to, but I could be wrong. (VC _can_ be abusive. I took it out of my political deck when people started voting against me even on votes that did not hurt them!) -> The next logical question is if I do get the ten votes in the -> previous situation do I win? Democritus has superior Presence thus I -> can gain up two blood to my pool. Thus I lose four pool because of -> Ancilla Empowerment which drains me to zero and then gain two because -> of Voter Captivation while Democritus returns to full strength -> gaining eight blood. Both VC and AE trigger on the final vote tally, so I would say you are not ousted. I'd hate to have Jyhad timing be like MtG, where effects succeed or fail based on some arcane timing rule.

You may play Bewitching Oration to bring your total votes to 14, even if no one else has voted against you. Stealth and Intercept are the only things you cannot play except when you need them (and Additional Strikes in V:tES, but not Jyhad). >The next logical question is if I do get the ten votes in the previous >situation do I win? I think (since Jyhad has no timing issues), that everything resolves at once, and you simply end up with two pool. But I'd wait for Tom's answer for confirmation. -- L.
