hey -- i've checked the rulings and errata and clarifications, but am not finding anything that directly addresses eternal vigilance, so i'm posting the question: if i have a vampire with eternal vigilance [let's say lambach], do i have to be able to block the action to use the eternal vigilance effect [like 2nd trad], or can i simply untap at will [like forced awakening]...? eternal vigilance says: "During an action, the Sabbat vampire with this card can pay a blood to untap and attempt to block." for a more specific example: my grandprey announces a hunt action... lambach is tapped, with eternal vigilance and a raptor on him, and i have an eagle's sight in hand, as well as a forced awakening... am i allowed to untap via eternal vigilance, then play the eagle's sight out of hand to allow my blocking attempt, or am i *forced* to play the forced awakening to nail that pesky minion to the wall...? thanks -- -- khs

The latter. You cannot block your grandprey's action except if you play eagle sight. To play eagle sight, a reaction card, you must be untapped / or play a card that allows you to play reaction cards. so you play FA, then eagle sight to be able to block. (note that you are free to pay or not pay the blood to untap for the eternal vigilance at this point, but that it makes no difference since the FA allows you to block anyway.) > thanks -- you're welcome > -- khs reyda

Like 2nd Trad, EV requires you to block, you may not untap if you are ineligible to block. > for a more specific example: my grandprey announces a hunt action... > lambach is tapped, with eternal vigilance and a raptor on him, and i > have an eagle's sight in hand, as well as a forced awakening... am i > allowed to untap via eternal vigilance, then play the eagle's sight > out of hand to allow my blocking attempt, or am i *forced* to play the > forced awakening to nail that pesky minion to the wall...? You must FA then Eagles Sight since EV requires you to block which you can't until you play Eagle's.

In the instance of being hit by, say, a Change of Target or something, you'll end up untapped, because Eternal Vigilance untapped you.
