If Koko has an uncontested title, and Crowley is in play, >and Koko gets burnt, or goes to torpor, does Crowley automatically >regain his title? Who pays the blood on contested titles? The title is contested, and the contesting vampires must pay 1 blood during each of its owner's untap phase or yield the title. A vampire which cannot pay the blood goes to torpor, and a vampire which is in torpor must yield the title. This is actually in the rules. Praxis Solomon can settle it, but is not necessary. >Can you play the same action modifier twice for the same action? Eg., >Lost in Crowds? What about in it's normal and superior version? No and no. >Press. My opponent presses to end combat, I press to continue. Who >wins? Can either of us influence things by playing yet more presses? Your opponent's play is illegal. A press to end combat cannot be played unless your opponent has first played a press to continue combat. Players can keep playing presses until either player quits playing presses. >Is it legal to modify an action before your opponent declares if >they're blocking? Eg, I'm going to bleed you at stealth 2 using >superior lost in crowds. It is generally legal to play action modifiers before blocking attempts, /with the exception of stealth/. Stealth cannot be played unless there is a blocking attempt, and the action would be blocked if you don't play the stealth. -- "Live Life with Heart." Alan Kwan kw...@cs.cornell.edu

They are also clarified in the postings that pass for FAQs on this newsgroup: The Complete Rules Outline and the Summary of Official Errata and Clarifications. In general, it's better to simply "lurk" on a group for a few weeks before posting, to check that your questions really aren't frequently asked, but since you're here... >How does Praxis Seizure work? If Timothy Crowley is in play, and PS >Dallas is successful for Koko, does this mean Koko is now Prince of >Dallas, or is the title contested? What if Koko is Prince of Seattle >and then Timothy Crowley comes into play? Do I need Praxis Solomon to >settle this? The title is contested as soon as more than one vampire lays claim to it. a Praxis Solomon *cannot* be used to settle this, since it is only good to settle contested *cards*, not titles. >If Koko has an uncontested title, and Crowley is in play, >and Koko gets burnt, or goes to torpor, does Crowley automatically >regain his title? Who pays the blood on contested titles? Crowley will regain the title during his Methuselah's next untap phase. The vampires pay the blood to contest their titles. [17.2] >Can you play the same action modifier twice for the same action? Eg., >Lost in Crowds? What about in it's normal and superior version? No. (Or, not usually. You can play the same modifier more than once provided that no minion plays the same modifier more than once during the action. Ex: Superior Cloak the Gathering can be played by as many ready vampires as are available. Also, if an action is taken over via the Mask of a Thousand Faces, the new acting vampire may use any action modifier - including ones already used by the previous acting minion.) >Press. My opponent presses to end combat, I press to continue. Who >wins? Can either of us influence things by playing yet more presses? The last press played wins. [15.1 p34] Whichever Methuselah did not play the last press is free to play the next. The first press used in a round is "to continue combat". The second press is "to end combat". And they alternate. Same as for playing maneuvers. >Is it legal to modify an action before your opponent declares if >they're blocking? Eg, I'm going to bleed you at stealth 2 using >superior lost in crowds. In general, yes. Your example, no. You may not play stealth unless you need to overcome the current blocker's intercept. [13.3.2] -- L. Yes, the title is contested. > What if Koko is Prince of Seattle > and then Timothy Crowley comes into play? Nothing happens. Timothy Crowley has no claim to seattle, so nothing happens. > Do I need Praxis Solomon to > settle this? No, but Praxis Solomon would certainly help :). > If Koko has an uncontested title, and Crowley is in play, > and Koko gets burnt, or goes to torpor, does Crowley automatically > regain his title? No. Once you have forfeited your title, it is GONE until someone Praxis Seisures it back. > Who pays the blood on contested titles? The Vampire doing the contestation. > > Can you play the same action modifier twice for the same action? Eg., > Lost in Crowds? What about in it's normal and superior version? > Sort of. Each Vampire can only play each particular card once. However, there are certain obvious combos involving Mask of 1,000 faces that can allow you to play the same card several times. Cloak the Gathering can be used as many times as you have minions with Obfuscation. > Press. My opponent presses to end combat, I press to continue. Who > wins? Can either of us influence things by playing yet more presses? > Neither of you "win". However, unless there are more presses to continue combat, combat will not continue. In a sense, Press to end beats Press to continue. > Is it legal to modify an action before your opponent declares if > they're blocking? I thought that Tom ruled titles were not cards, therefore P.S. did not apply.... Algustas *****When yu' can't have what you choose, yu' just choose what you have.***** Owen Wister, The Virginian
