What is the current best guess for Dark Sovereigns' release date? Thanks. - Neil -- nwbe...@unix.amherst.edu, lentus in umbra | nudus ara, sere nudus... in omnibus requiem quaesivi, et nusquam inveni nisi in angulo cum libro

The only expansion for Jyhad and they don't deem it important enough to get it out. Why should they? With everything Magic is giving them $$$$$$$. I've been looking forward to the expansion but I think by the time it gets out I won't have any respect for Wizards left to make a purchase. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* * Kathleen Ellis af...@ccn.cs.dal.ca | As others might with tenderness * * Alias - Poenaplaceunque | rule your life and your youth, * * | I shall rule you with a fear. * * "Where pleasure and pain becomes one" | -Baudelaire, The Ghost * *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I am merely trying to ask Tom Wylie, the netrep for r.g.t-c.jyhad, when he expects the product he supports to be released. (I still haven't heard from him, so I'm guessing he doesn't know yet.) Obviously I intend to buy DS, else I wouldn't be wasting my time posting this question. - Neil "I save my moral indignation for Exxon" Bernstein [ quoted text not captured ]

Fact. Magic is far more popular than Jyhad/V:TES is or likely ever will be. Deal with it. WoTC is in a bad situation where demand is massively outstripping their ability to supply. (They're pretty much unable to keep regular Magic cards and Ice Age in stock.) Because of extremly long lead times for signing contracts and preparing things they planned their schedule before they realized the full extent of the crunch. Thus they're in a situation where somebody is going to have to wait. Given the choice between pissing off the hordes of Magic fans and pissing off the much smaller number of Jyhad fans, it's an obvious choice. You don't have to like it, but the level of moral indignation running around here is ridiculous. -Jeff -- Jeff Hildebrand, The Shaggy TA <*> hild...@math.wisc.edu My friends and I have had a hard time bruising our brains, hard up against change -Indigo Girls, The Wood Song

We did not deliberately bump the release date; circumstances beyond our control forced us to to push back the dates due to problems in producing the cards. It *is* important, but we are not omnipotent. Tom Wylie rec.games.trading-cards.* Network Representative for aa...@cats.ucsc.edu Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

No, but the comment about losing respect for WoTC for pushing back the V:TES/DS release date instead of pushing back the release date for Homelands isn't very consistant with the viewpoint. >WoTC has been in the card business for a few >years now, I think they should be well aware of how complicated things >can get and adjust accordingly. Yup, but the business is changing rapidly. They are trying to deal with orders that are an order of magnitude larger than what they were dealing with last year. Furthermore Carta Mundi is now dealing with a lot more companies printing games than they were a year ago, so there's a lot less flexibility in printing schedules. It seems to me that things have been and are continuing to get more complicated. Your expectation is a lot more realistic in a stable environment, and the CCG market is not even remotely stable. > Release dates shouldn't be released until they are absolutely sure. Well it seems to me that they had an initial release date when they first started taking orders for the game (which they have to have in order to get distributors to list the game), and then since then they've been very quiet. I've noticed that Tom Wylie is bending over backwards around here to avoid saying exactly when the cards will be out. All I've seen is that they should be out by the end of the year with DS after V:TES. Anything else here is either the original GenCon plan or just rumor-mongering. In comparison to some other companies, WoTC has been following a very responsible course of action on this front. > Then again this is MY opinion. And you're welcome to express it. But I'm also free to express the opinion that some people here are letting their impatience cloud the facts, and that's what I'm doing. [ quoted text not captured ]
