Hi!
I would like to have some answers please...
The Second Tradition: Domain
============================
It says on the card...
"+2 Intercept. Usable by a tapped vampire that untaps and attempts
to block."
Does this mean that this card does untap the vampire and gives +2
intercept to block an action or must I untap the vampire (with for
example Rat's Warning) and block if I want to use this card?
Cloak the Gathering
===================
It says on the card...
"Only usable by a vampire other than an acting minion you control
to give that minion +1 stealth. Does not tap the playing vampire."
Can a player use this card on a vampire he controls to give a vampire
he doesn't control that +1 stealth since it doesn't say on the card
"that minion". But my guess would be it doesn't work since it's an
action modifier and you can't play action modifiers when it's not
your turn.
Winning the Game
================
Let's say for example we are 3 players in a game...
Player 3
Player 2 Player 1
Player 1 calls a vote to lose 1 blood for each minion we control.
Player 2 and 3 is ousted at the same time because of the vote.
What's the timing of all this? Technically, player 2 would have
a victory point because Player 3 is ousted, but player 1 would have
a victory point because player 2 was ousted exept if he receives the
6 bloods. I would guess the timing would be to gofrom the left player
and so on, but I would like a precise answer on this please.
Monocle of Clarity
==================
Let's say again we are 3 players in a game...
Player 3
Player 2 Player 1
Player one has a vampire with Monocle of Clarity. He asks this
question to player 2.
"If a call a vote, will you intercept it?"
Player 2 says no. Player 1 calls a vote to lose a blood for each
minion we control. Player 2 would be ousted because of that vote
and he can intercept the vote. Does he have the choice to change
his mind or he must obey the answer he gave even if the question was
vague?
Here's another situation. Player 1 asks player 2 if he will vote
in favor or not for all the political actions player 1 will do in the
game. Does player 2 must answers that kind of question? And if he
must do so. Let's say for example he says yes. Does he have to choice
to change his mind during the game or he must obey that answer and vote
all in favor of the votes Player 1 will play?
I guess what I am trying to say is if Monocle of Clarity can be used
to manipulate futur actions that will be done by other players by
asking questions that normaly can't be answered because those actions
depends on how the game is going.
I hope you have a general ruling on this... ;-)
Metro Underground
=================
It says on the card...
"Tap and play 1 pool to untap one vampire at the end of your turn."
Can I untap a vampire that another player controls?
Murder of Crows
===============
It says on the card...
"Does 1R each round of combat"
When is the timing of that damage? At the strike resolution?
Mob Connections
===============
It says on the card...
"Tap for a press, only usable to continue combat. ..."
Let's say we are 3 players in a game and I am player 1. Player 2 and
3 have vampires in combat and they are the end of a round. Nobody
uses presses. Can I tap Mob Connections to give a press to continue
to player 2 and force him to continue combat since it doesn't say
on the card "Tap to GAIN a press, ..."
Make Damage to a Retainer
=========================
It says on the manual...
"The only damage that can be dealt to them (retainers) is ranged
damage and any time ranged damage is dealt to a minion, the
Methuselah controlling the minion dealing the ranged damage may
choose to apply all of it to either the minion or to a retainer
on the minion. This damage cannot be prevented by dodges or any
other intervention. ..."
Q1. Can a vampire burn a retainer (who has for example 2 life) if he
does 3R damage but at close range?
Q2. When the opposing vampire chooses his strike, must he tells
if he's doing the damage to the retainer or to the minion, or
only when it's time to resolve the strikes? It is very important
because if he decides to strike the vampire instead of the
retainer, I have to opportunity to play a Dodge card if I don't
want my vampire to receive damage (for example).
Rotschreck
==========
I saw in the Issue #3 of Duelist that there was an erreta on the
card Rotscheck...
"This card is placed on the vampire who is about to receive aggravated
damage."
Since it's an Out-of-Turn card, does it mean that I can only play it
if my vampire does Aggravated Damage when blocking since it's not my
turn AND after playing it, the opposing vampire receives the card
Rotschreck and goes to Torpor?
This erreta changes the whole concept of this card isn't it or I
didn't understand the card in the first place... I thought that the
opposing vampire would be able to play Rotschreck when one of my
vampires does aggravated damage and it would be my vampire who goes
in torpor with Rotschreck on it.
Thanks for the answers...

It untaps and gives +2 intercept

No, usable only during your turn

Both are ousted simultaneously. Player 2 get a victory point but no blood.
Player 1 gets 1 victory point and 6 blood. Player 3 loses.

He must obey the answer, the question wasn't vague.

Player 2 should say "No" and he doesn't have to favor player 1's votes but
he can if he wants to. If he says "Yes" he must always vote at least one
vote in favor on every vote player 1 proposes.
> I hope you have a general ruling on this... ;-)
The only question you can't ask is will your next answer be yes or no. The
players response is not binding in this case.

At the end of the round, it is not a strike and may not be dodged.

One of your minions has to be in the combat to contribute presses.

I don't think dodge can prevent damage to a retainer.

This is a misprint

This is the correct interpretation

Sorry I couldn't help too much on damage to retainers.

HOUSE RULE WARNING!! HOUSE RULE WARNING!!
There has been no official answer (to my knowledge) on the restrictions
of the question asked by the Monocle's controller. (Except that it is
"highly recommended that questions refer to the game" (DTR 11/9/94)).
House rules notwithstanding, questions refering to your next answer (and
the subsequent answers) ARE binding.
Be not led astray by popular house rules.

True, damage to retainers cannot be avoided nor prevented by any means.
(save Combat Ends, of course).

Actually I would answer yes to that question...
"will you vote in favour or not..." the only answer is yes...
A no answer would mean... I will not vote in favour... and I will vote in
favour, which can't be done (The openendedness of the question gives the
answerer an easy out)

Really? I thought the Mob could interfere with any combat... like
the Police... and Mariel "Lady Thunder". It doesn't specify that it has
to be one of your mimions on the card.

No it can't, but the target of the damage should be specified... so one
doesn't waste a dodge to stay alive, and not be the target after all. Or
have someone change targets because you dodged...

This is actually pretty tricky. Let's make it a more obvious question
of the same nature, "will you block all of my actions this round?"
I'm trying to get you in a "damned if you do..." situtation with this.
"Yes" is dangerous since you'll be forced into making bad blocks and using
up everything to block actions you don't want to (paying for Andreas's
intercept, using the wimp with Auspex to block a hunt by Crusher, etc...)
What if you answer "no?" You're commited not _not_ blocking one of my
actions. Since you don't know how many actions I'll be taking, it seems
like you have to not block the first one.
The only other approach to take is, "I don't know how many actions you're
going to take, so I'll just block them all. If you stop taking actions, I
guess it wasn't possible to not block one." This let's you ignore a "no"
answer to any questions, "will you do X at every opportunity?" and seems
pretty cheesy.
Cards that provide presses or "combat ends" can only be used if one
of your minions is involved in the combat. Unless, of course, the
card says otherwise, as Elysium does. Mob Connections and Police
Department do not say otherwise.
