Query: In discussion on IRC (#vtes on SorceryNet, where all the cool kids are, pimp pimp) the topic of Cry Wolf and Pressing Flesh came up again, and is semi-related to this topic where a very similar question was asked: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/browse_thread/thread/3482051d083fc757/183fb768c81cfb57?lnk=gst&q=pressing+flesh+cry+wolf#183fb768c81cfb57 I'd like to qualify whether I'm right in my assumptions on how a Pressing Flesh Cry Wolf would work (but doesn't): Cry Wolf Type: Ally Requires: anarch Unique werewolf with 3 life. 2 strength, 0 bleed. Requires a ready anarch. If the action to recruit this ally is blocked, the acting anarch goes to torpor. This werewolf must enter combat with any minion controlled by another Methuselah as a (D) action. He gets one optional press each combat. This werewolf does not untap as normal during your untap phase. If he is tapped during your untap phase, burn him. Pressing Flesh Type: Action Requires: Thanatosis +1 stealth action. [thn] Choose an ally that was burned from play. Move that ally from the ash heap to your ready region with this card and life equal to its starting life. This ally is a zombie instead of what it used to be, gets -1 bleed, cannot gain life, and may play cards that require basic Fortitude [for] as a vampire. [THN] As above, but with an additional life. The reason I've become confused is down to the use of 'This Werewolf' in some places and not in others. Does this mean these items of text should be ignored? The original reply was that downsides would remain, so it behaved as expected but just wanted to clarify whether this should be just for Cry Wolf, or whether it's general for all Allies recalled via Pressing Flesh. (Not that I've checked yet if this wording occurs anywhere else, I'll rely on one someone to be more pedantic than me) Theoretical outcome otherwise: "This werewolf must enter combat with any minion controlled by another Methuselah as a (D) action." - No longer applies. This Zombie ally isn't a Werewolf. "He gets one optional press each combat." - Still applies. There's no specification on what he needs to be. "This werewolf does not untap as normal during your untap phase." - No longer applies. Reason as above. "If he is tapped during your untap phase, burn him." - Still applies. Reason as above.

The Cry Wolf must rush and doesnt untap as normal no matter what ally-type he is <Shockwave^> Well, that's what I wanted to know. <Shockwave^> I want to know whether it'll be just Cry Wolf that gets this treatment. <Shockwave^> or any other ally with 'This <x>' <@Jozxyqk> what other ally says "This X" on it? <Shockwave^> None right now, afaik. <Shockwave^> Shall I just paste this conversation into the NG now? :) <@Jozxyqk> i think in the future, allies will be designed with Pressing Flesh as a known card, so they'll be worded properly

It looks like exactly that topic and question, indeed. > I'd like to qualify whether I'm right in my assumptions on how a > Pressing Flesh Cry Wolf would work (but doesn't): > > The reason I've become confused is down to the use of 'This Werewolf' > in some places and not in others. This Zombie ally isn't a Werewolf. As "otherwise theory" goes, sure. But the ruling is that "this werewolf" means "Cry Werewolf". > "He gets one optional press each combat." > - Still applies. There's no specification on what he needs to be. "He" is a pronoun. Its antecedent is "this werewolf". The press applies or doesn't exactly like the "must rush" applies or doesn't, and for exactly the same reason.
