Badger Rushes Didi Meyers. Combat begins and Before range is determined Badger tears a sign post. Range is close, Badger chooses Undead Strength for her strike and Didi chooses Hand damage. (Badger: loses one blood, down to 5 and Didi: loses three blood, down to 2). Badger presses and before range is determined Badger plays Flesh of Marble. Range is close again. Badger chooses Growing Fury (and her sign is still in effect right?) and Didi chooses Hand damage again. Badger wants to play Claws of the Dead and deal 4 aggravated damage to Didi (enough to burn her), can that card be played during the strike resolution or must it be played during the Choose Strike phase? see next entry

Continued: Can Badger prevent the one damage with an Unflinching Persistance? It was posted that if you have a flak jacket and play Flesh of Marble the flak jacket would take effect before the Flesh of Marble. So I don't see any problem. What if Didi had played a Lucky Blow (causing two damage) would the Flesh reduce first or the Persistance prevent first? In light of previous rulings I assume that the Badger would still take a damage. But can't you reduce damage at any time that it is dealt (while in combat), for example if Didi had caused more damage at close range than Badger and pulled Badger's fangs would She be able to prevent the damage w/ a Unflinching persistance. What if flesh of marble was played by Badger has a Thaumaturgy skill card played on her and decided to steal blood as her strike (and therefore doing no damage to Didi) Didi causes her one hand damage, and since she caused more damage during the round decides to pull Badger's fangs. Does the Flesh reduce the hand damage (1) to 1 and then the aggravated damage (from the Pull) is separate? Or is the hand damage and aggravated considered 2 damage inflicted for the round and since Badger has greater protean is this damage reduced to one? Is that one aggravated, one normal or does Badger get the choice? Can Taste of the Vitae be played after the additional strike phase and include all blood lost by the opposing vampire this round? Is the Taste negated if it is played before additional strike round, and then the opponent causes enough damage during the additional strike phase to cause the first vampire to be sent to torpor (I would hope not, the Taste is immediate, right?)? Can you play pulled fangs on a vampire that is on it's way to torpor? I would think so since it has been posted that you could play more than one pulled fangs on a vampire at a time (pulled gums?). Sorry about the format of the posting AOL keeps signing me off every time I try and post something long.

No. Flesh of Marble reduces all damage _that was not otherwise prevented_ to one point. : Can Taste : of the Vitae be played after the additional strike phase and include all : blood lost by the opposing vampire this round? Additional strikes cause a new 'declare strike/resolve strike' sub-unit, usable only by those with additinoal strikes. Thus, it is perfectly legal to use Taste after hitting them three times in 1 round. : Is the Taste negated if it : is played before additional strike round, and then the opponent causes : enough damage during the additional strike phase to cause the first : vampire to be sent to torpor (I would hope not, the Taste is immediate, : right?)? If the vampire is not going to torpor at the time it plays the Taste, then the 'Not usable by a vampire going to torpor' clause doesn't kick in. : Can you play pulled fangs on a vampire that is on it's way to : torpor? As long as all other conditions are satisfied, probably so. : Sorry : about the format of the posting AOL keeps signing me off every time I try : and post something long. You'll get answers a lot faster if you clearly delineate your questions instead of mushing them all together in one long pragraph, even if it does mean that you have to post several small articles. After a strike which sends a vampire to torpor resolves, combat is over, so you cannot play additional combat cards (with the exception of Amaranth, which needs a torpor-ed vampire to be played). Although the RT has made an (unintentional?) exception to their rule by saying that multiple Fangs may be played in a round by the same minion. While true, it is not generally possible unless the Fangless vampire prevents the one aggravated from the first Fangs (thereby *not* going to torpor and allowing the combat to continue). I have not heard from the RT clarifying this inconsistency. -- L. Scott Johnson (sjoh...@math.sc.edu) | These opinions are mine and http://www.math.sc.edu/~sjohnson | are subject to card text.
