Sorry if this has been asked before, but it came up in a discussion last night (after my Samedi...yes SAMEDI deck almost swept the entire table...4 VP in a 5 player game. I'll post the deck list if anyone is interested. It was really part luck and part timing on some of my actions). Anyway, we were curious about whether or not a vampire going to torpor via Ashes to Ashes is considered wounded and hence would burn if they took an additional point of agg damage that they could not spend the blood to prevent destruction from. Basically, if I Force of Will to bleed and get blocked and play ashes to ashes to go to torpor untapped and gain two blood, does the additional agg damage from Force of Will burn the acting vampire or can they burn blood to prevent destruction? What if the acting minion has no blood on them after A2A is played (inf.)?

[ quoted text not captured ] But you're not facing an additional point of agg damage, you are simply going to torpor. After the resolution of the action (ie, when combat ends) you are in torpor and take a single point of agg damage. Normally the first one just sends you to torpor and you don't have to burn any blood. Didn't know how it worked since the vamp was already there. Regardless, thanks for the info. I'll make sure to be careful with the samedi in situations as such (or pack some CoT in to cancel the action if it gets blocked). > Fred

Sure. I don't understand why you bother to point this out, but yes. You do go through this stage. And then after "going to torpor", you get to the point afterwards where you're _in torpor_, as you note: > After the resolution of the action (ie, when combat ends) > you are in torpor and take a single point of agg damage. Correct. > Normally the first one just sends you to torpor and you don't have to burn any > blood. Correct. When you're not in torpor and get a point of ag damage, you simply go to torpor and don't burn any blood. Then, if you get more ag damage, you burn blood equal to the ag damage. If you do not have sufficient blood (as would be the case described above: in torpor, zero blood, one ag damage), you burn. The vampire's mistake, therefore, is having that one ag damage yet to deal with and not getting through combat either ready or else with at least one blood left on him. > Didn't > know how it worked since the vamp was already there. But a bit tricky to play with at times. Fred

[ quoted text not captured ] Because the first point of aggravated damage never burns you in combat and I didn't know what the protocol was for a vampire in torpor receiving agg damage. I just needed the clarification on this that provided later. Thanks. [ quoted text not captured ]

"in combat" is not a criterion for aggravated damage burning a vampire. "wounded" is the only criterion - a wounded vampire must burn a blood or be burned. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
