Is Crusher's dodge a strike or does it allow him to dodge and use a normal strike as a single strike like Acrobatics - which makes him pretty good (but then again he is an expensive vamp). Could somebody please give me a sensible explanation of the Trap card, as the wording on it is fairly ambiguous. (funny, we've been playing it one way for almost a year before somebody pointed this out) Clarendon

WotC has said 'All dodges are Strikes, even if teh card forgets to say so.' and so, by analogy, I would assume that Crusher's dodge is also a strike, and not an additional strike. : Could somebody please give me a sensible explanation of the Trap : card, as the wording on it is fairly ambiguous. (funny, we've been : playing it one way for almost a year before somebody pointed this out) - Trap is played. - Trap card itself provides a press, so either player may press to cancel (As opposed to only the Meth not playing the trap, as some belive). - At the end of each round, if no cards were played, add 1 to the 'no cards played counter'. - If a card is played in a given round, the counter is reset to 0. - If the counter gets to three, no press is provided by the Trap that round; thus, there would be four rounds of combat if no cards were ever played but the Trap. (The Trap itself counts as a card played, and thus the first round 'resets the counter'.) Hope This Helps; "This isn't about answers. It's about questions. So, combat rounds will keep happening until someone Majesties, Forms of Mist, EarthMeld etc. or Open Grates, Boxes In, Indominables etc. or three complete rounds pass with no cards being played. > > Clarendon > > Ritaxis

The card says: Combat automatically has a press, only useable to continue combat each round. So it doesn't say anything about preventing other presses from ending combat, only that the automatic press can only be used to continue it. Strike: Combat Ends will also end a trap.... You CANNOT use any press to end combat cards when trap is played. The card says the presses are automatic and only continue combat until 3 conecutive rouds pass with no card being played. The only way combat ends before this is if a vamp goes to topor. I once had Nik with fortitude and superior celerity (at 3 blood). He went to diablerize Sir Walter Nash. Democratis (at full capacity) blocked and went to topor for his efforts. As long as someone keeps playing a card, combat automatically continues. SABRjay I'll catch up on sleep after I am dead.

Any strike combat ends will end a trap... you never make it to the press phase. I present that argument first so that even if you disagree about how traps work you will see an exception to your version. :) A trap makes each round have a press to continue. Just one, each round, until some condition is met. If either player plays a press to end, and the other player does not play a press to continue... well, combat ends. The trap can expire before the combat is over: after three rounds with no cards being played the trap ends... then someone can tap mob connections or use a Hawg or whatever to keep going w/o the trap... -steve kertes ker...@netcom.com ker...@geoworks.com

Even if you were right about the inability to play cards - you still could use presses from Appolonius and/or from a Hawg (since these aren't cards "played"). But, in fact, the "with no cards being played" restricts how you count to three rounds, not how you play the three rounds. -- ----- L. Another question about trap Can more than one trap be played It must be played during the first round before range is chosen But can you play two. An Interesting question I had during a game. Correct. : The trap can expire before the combat is over: after three rounds with : no cards being played the trap ends... then someone can tap mob connections : or use a Hawg or whatever to keep going w/o the trap... If this were the case, it would lead to a situation like this: Three rounds of combat have passed without any cards being played. I have used my deer rifle twice and my IR goggles once to stay far away from you all three rounds, but have always had a press in my hand just in case. Trap now expires as no cards were played this round. But Wait! You tap the Mob Connnections to give a press. I don't want any more combat, so I use the press in myhand to get out. Combat over, right? Nope - since I played a card, the trap could not have expired this turn (since three turns didn't pass without cards being played). In that case, there was automatically a press to continue, so you coldn't have used your Mob Connections, so I didn't need to use my press to cancel, so I didn't play my card, so the trap expires, so you could have used your Mobsters, so I did need to play my card, so... See the problems this creates? Basically, If I Understand Correctly, the auto-press provided by the trap is the _last_ thing to happen in a given round. If it is used, it may be reacted to, but once the trap's auto-press conditions are met, combat is _over_. Period. Shane H.W. There are several ways to do it, but only 1 way to make combat go for 4 rounds instead of 5, which is to have the Trap cancel _before_ giving the 4th press (which would start a 5th round): XX. Press Stage 0) If no cards were played so far this round or the previous 2, cancel any Traps. 1) A Trap provides a press to continue, which either player may cancel. 2) Players may play presses to end/continue, as appropriate, etc... ... Alternately, 1) and 2) may be switched around, but it "makes sense" you can't press to continue if you know you're in a trap.

My understanding (and yes, I may be incorrect) is that combat automatically has a press to continue, but that doesn't mean presses can't be used to end combat. Also note that Trap does NOT say three "consecutive" rounds, it says "three rounds." They need not be consecutive! Ed Winder
