first question: i have used up my master phase action for a turn. i assume i can still play the coven because i get a master phase action when i play it. can i now play a second coven to contest myself and prevent my predator from gaining it? could i play any number of covens during one single master phase? second question: zebulon is bleedding my prey. prey blocks, i add superior faceless night for +1 stealth. prey adds +1 intercept, zebulon plays elder impersonation on superior. on one hand faceless night says, any vampire that attempts to block this action [is tapped when the block succeeds or when that vampire's controller decides not to block]. on the other hand elder impersonation reads, only usable when another minion attempts to block the acting minion. that minion's blocking attempt fails; untap that minion. that minion cannot attempt to block this action again. now is the vampire who attempted to block tapped or untapped? are the 2 cards applied in sequence of play or is one of them stronger? regards, pallando

No. You need a master phase action to play a master card. > can i now play a second coven to contest myself and prevent my predator from > gaining it? If you use your master phase action to play Coven, you'll gain a master phase action. You could then use that new master phase action to play a second coven, yes. > could i play any number of covens during one single master phase? Once you play the first (and none are Sudden Reversaled), yes. > second question: > zebulon is bleedding my prey. prey blocks, i add superior faceless night for > +1 stealth. prey adds +1 intercept, zebulon plays elder impersonation on > superior. > > on one hand faceless night says, any vampire that attempts to block this > action [is tapped when the block succeeds or when that vampire's controller > decides not to block]. > > on the other hand elder impersonation reads, only usable when another minion > attempts to block the acting minion. that minion's blocking attempt fails; > untap that minion. that minion cannot attempt to block this action again. Elder Impersonation, like most of the "block fails" cards, should not say "untap the blocker" - it should just indicate that the blocker doesn't tap since the block is not successful. (Errata) I'll update the card list. > now is the vampire who attempted to block tapped or untapped? are the 2 > cards applied in sequence of play or is one of them stronger? Tapped. One (FN) fails to alter the tapped status of the minion. The other actively taps him. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. No. You must spend a master phase action to play this master (put coven in play). You can't spend what you don't have. > can i now play a second coven to contest myself and prevent my predator from > gaining it? if you already used your master phase (and assuming you're not playing parthenon, anson, rumors or sarrasine), you cannont play the first coven. Now let's imagine you didn't used your master phase.... you can play a coven, gain the opportunity to play another coven, and so on... and play any number of covens in this way. > could i play any number of covens during one single master phase? yes, if you have a library made of 60 covens, you can play them all on a single turn. > second question: > zebulon is bleedding my prey. prey blocks, i add superior faceless night for > +1 stealth. prey adds +1 intercept, zebulon plays elder impersonation on > superior. > on one hand faceless night says, any vampire that attempts to block this > action [is tapped when the block succeeds or when that vampire's controller > decides not to block]. > > on the other hand elder impersonation reads, only usable when another minion > attempts to block the acting minion. that minion's blocking attempt fails; > untap that minion. that minion cannot attempt to block this action again. > > now is the vampire who attempted to block tapped or untapped? are the 2 > cards applied in sequence of play or is one of them stronger? the correct effect from Elder impersonation is "The blocking attempts fails. do not tap the minion who failed to block" (and if he was already tapped, then it's fine, don't untap him). The effect of Faceless night is "tap the minion who attempts to block even if the block fails". So i guess the blocking vampire stays tapped ! > regards, > > pallando > >
