OK, granted, this is kind of difficult to set up, but it's not impossible. :-) Suppose Angela Preston and Saxum, Master of Slaves are in play. Saxum plays a Clan Impersonation to Daughters of Cacophony. Then, Angela plays two Sanguine Instructions to give Saxum superior Melpominee. Then, Angela Clan Impersonates to Tremere. Angela Preston takes an action, which someone attempts to block. Saxum plays Siren's Lure at [MEL] to make the block fail and fight that blocker after the action. Then another vampire attempts to block, which succeeds, and Angela's controller invokes the Slave rule to have Saxum fight instead. Saxum now gets to fight in two sequential combats (first the one from the Slave rule, replacing the block combat, and then the one from Siren's Lure), correct? thanks, Josh enslaved by a siren

I _believe_, but am not sure, that you could not invoke the slave rule to get Saxum into the combat, since another combat was already pending, and you can only have one pending combat at a time. (Compare and contrast to why you can't Psyche! an Illusions of the Kindred. It would seem, unless I'm missing something, you could also not IotK if a Siren's Lure had been played and was waiting to resolve.) http://groups.google.com/groups?q=author:LSJ+siren%27s+lure&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&selm=3C55334B.97A36456%40white-wolf.com&rnum=4 --Colin McGuigan

[ quoted text not captured ] Yes. [ quoted text not captured ] Play this deck at Origins and I'll give you a free rare. It'll even be a *good* rare. I. Dare. (also, wouldn't the combo be easier if you used Pugfar and a !Trem with a MEL Infernal Pact?) salem domain:canberra http://www.geocities.com/salem_christ.geo/vtes.htm

[LSJ 9-Feb-2003] This idea was actually Trey Morita's (one of those "wacky combos" you come up with during VTES-related road trips) and the original concept was to use Infernal Pact, since that way you only need one Clan Impersonation (and get to use Dominate). Unfortunately, on getting home and reading the actual text of Infernal Pact, it doesn't truly grant you the superior discipline, just the ability to play cards requiring that discipline as if you had the superior. Since Sanguine Instruction doesn't require *that* discipline... we are sad. :-) Kevin - I could (and might!) play the deck at Origins, but at the moment it's not so much a "deck" as a "silly combo idea". And I'm not sure it's one that a deck can really be built around. ;-) Plus, Scott is definitely right that Siren's Lure + Mask of 1000 Faces would be a lot easier to set up. heh. Josh i'm a... slaaaaaave to you

Right, you can't Illusions of the Kindred when a Siren's Lure has been played during the current action, based on the "can't queue an additional combat if a combat is already queued" ruling. But the invocation of the Slave rule does not queue an additional combat - it just substitutes a different combat for the "normal" block combat. As Scott pointed out, you can do this with Mask of 1000 Faces and Siren's Lure for nearly the same functionality. (Although that way you do just have a normal block combat, albeit not involving the original acting minion. :-) Josh why must my blocks always fail?
