Looking for confirmation that a dodge will avoid the unnecessarily mean effect of UP superior. ------------------------------------------- Unholy Penance Cardtype: Combat Cost: 1 blood Discipline: Presence [pre] Strike: combat ends. [PRE] As above, and put this card on the opposing minion (ranged). The striking vampire gets +1 bleed against this minion's controller. This minion may burn this card as a +1 stealth action. A minion can have only one Unholy Penance.

[ quoted text not captured ] Yes, dodge protects the dodging minion.

[ quoted text not captured ] It's true. It's in the rulebook in section 6.4.5 Dodge. A dodge strike deals no damage, but *** it protects the dodging minion and his possessions from the effects of the opposing strike***. Retainers are not protected, however. A dodge is effective at any range. A dodge protects even from the effects of a strike done with first strike. (A dodge is a strike, even though it is solely defensive. It represents the activity of the minion during that pair of strikes.) Comments Welcome, Norman S. Brown, Jr XZealot Archon of the Swamp

I mean, I thought (I think I read it somewhere) that even if you dodged the AT combat would end, but it seems that ending combat it's an effect and since you're dodging then you're protected and combat shouldn't end, but I'm not sure anymore. Anesthetic Touch, Combat, Obeah/Auspex, C1 , [Bloodlines:C1] Only usable at close range. [aus] Strike: dodge. [obe] Strike: make a hand strike. Combat ends immediately after the resolution of this strike. [OBE] As [obe] above, with First Strike.

[ quoted text not captured ] I think the legalese on this is that the S:CE effect is not directed at the opposing minion. It is a global effect, and cannot be dodged - just like the untap clause on Majesty is not lost if the opponent dodges. Only effects that apply to the opposing minion are avoided by Strike: Dodge.
