What happened to the "no more than four of any one card per deck" rule? Or was that just a house rule that was passed on as VtES law?

There is not and never was a card limit rule in Jyhad/VTES, and while many players (most of whom started out playing Magic) implimented a 4CL in Jyhad, the game was, in fact, designed from the get go to not have any limits on numbers of cards in decks. Many players seem to like using some sort of CL for their Jyhad games, as they like the "variety" it promotes, or out of habit, or they feel that it prevents degeneracy in the game (which is not really the case, but live and let live), but it is in no way needed. One of the biggest problems with a CL in Jyhad is that certain deck types (like Malkavian Stealth and Bleed) are in no way hindered by a 4 (or 5 or 3...) CL, while other decks (like combat decks) suffer a great deal under CL. The officialy sanctioned tournament rules use neither a card limit of any type or a "restricted/banned" list (other than "Ante" cards and I think one exception), but uses a different type of arbitrary rules fix, the No Repeat Action rule. This rule is a needed fix to the game (and far more helpful/approprite than a CL) stating that a single minion cannot perform the same action more than once a turn (so you can't bleed, Freak Drive, bleed, Freak Drive, bleed, Freak Drive...). Look for Jyhad/VTES web pages for information on card limits and tournament rules. Peter D Bakija PD...@aol.com "I was satisfied with my life before I ate Strawberry Cream Puff." -Shonen Knife

There was a restricted list once upon a time, which meant that you couldn't have more than six of a given card (eg Majesty, I think) but 4CL (four card limit) has never been official for Jyhad. A lot of people do play it but it's not official and debates do go on about it a lot. The major problem with it is highlighted by this deck. With only 4 Corruptions allowable in a deck, why bother? Not that I want to drag the debate up again but it isn't official. Games can be a lot of fun without it. (On JOL (Jyhad On line - Http://deckserver.net) I've heard of decks with 65 Corruptions in them - one of Demos' IIRC). -- James Coupe (remove items of clothing to reply) I shall personally come around to your houses and drag you out by the scruff of the neck. I shall belt you around the mouth and mouth you around the belt. Do you understand what I'm saying?

It seems to take at least four rounds to get even a low generation vampire under control and it would seem that you would eventually need the acting minion to block or do something else and wouldn't have time to concentrate on capturing an army of opposing minions, let alone try this thirteen times. Am I reading this card wrong? You don't have to put more than one Corruption card on an individual vampire, right? This is an innocent question, please don't think this is a sarcastic reaction, I hate how impersonal these postings can sound.

Card text: "+1 stealth action (D) Put a corruption counter on a vampire or ally controlled by your prey. If the number of your corruption counters on the minion equals or exceeds the blood capacity of that vampire or the cost of that ally, you may burn all of your corruption counters on the minion to gain control of him or her." One card allows one action to put a (single) Corruption counter on a vampire or ally. You need a lot of them to be effective. It takes a lot of actions. It is a difficult tactic to employ, but it can be worthwhile to permanently control a vampire. How can you do that many actions? I am in a JOL game at the moment where my predator is playing with gangrel pretending to be Settites (hello Jason ;) and freak driving a lot. It is a novel idea, and works entirely too well for my taste. David Naseby

Ravenface wrote: > You don't have to put more than one Corruption > card on an individual vampire, right? You do not place the Corruption *card* on a vampire. The Corruption card is an action, like Computer Hacking is and action. Taking the Corruption action allows you to place one Corruption counter on a vampire, and burn X Corruption counters to take control of the vampire (where X is the capacity of the vampire). If X is more than one, it will take more than one Corruption action to place sufficient Corruption counters on the vampire. -- L. On this subject of stealing vamps; What happens when you steal a vampire with corruptions, and then you oust your prey. In the rule book it says that a player takes all of his cards when he is ousted, but in my JOL games they don't use that rule. Offically which is correct? Jason Sorry to annoy you Dave. :-(

Many house rules don't play this, however (like JOL) -- James Coupe (remove some crap to reply) Pah!! I hope it shits in your jogging suit!
