Ok can anyone think of a way around these combo's beyond either DI or NEVER blocking cuz I can't. Dawn OP, Weather Control, Skin of Night. OR Dawn OP, Thoughts Betrayed, Exuding Blood (if at LR), Vascular Explosion if at close. And either Silence of Death to do it with First Strike or Prevent with FOR whatever they do to you. The first I think has been around for awhile, but I think the second works as well. Range doesn't matter. Thoughts Betrayed means no Dodge, S:CE, can't prevent the agg strike, and either silence of death so even if he pumps his hand damage with fists, etc. it become irrelevent or just play a skin of steel or whatever. Unless he of course plays WC then you gotta play skin of night. (or have elemental Stoicism) I suppose the first one is better since it's only 3 cards vs. 4.

Either one is beaten by Skin of Night, Armor of Terra, Elemental Stoicism, Heart of Darkness and Concordance. Adaptability or TB will also work against the second combo. Flux

Both are also hosed if they are blocked and the reacting vampire plays an Obedience or Voice of Madness. And you might end up getting the wrong target with a Shilmulo Deception. Halcyan 2

Use bleed bounce or non blocking related defenses (Rush, rampant pool gain, rush, etc). Do block, and play Obediance (which cancels combat). Do block and play Illusions of Kindred. Or just don't block. >>Dawn OP, Weather Control, Skin of Night.>> Your own Skin of Night. Or Armor of Terra. Or Elemental Stoicism. Or Obediance. Or other cards that end combat before combat begins. Or don't rely on blocking as a defense. Strategies that rely on people blocking you (like the Dawn Op/Weather Control/Skin of Night plan) generally don't work so well if people don't block you, and if you have enough of the appropriate cards in your deck to be consisitently scary, if no one ever blocks you, you'll soon have a hand full of cards you can't play , 'cause no one blocks you, and your ability to actually do anything that folks want to block becomes greatly compromised. Thus, such a deck or strategy is self limiting--it only works if your prey does what you want them to, which is a bad thing to rely on. The whole concept of *not* blocking is a very important one in this game. If you regularly try to block every action that your predator attempts, when it is unlikely to actually work or be a good idea, you are going to die a lot (it allows your predator to cycle cards and often do what they want to do). Not blocking is very good for jamming up your predators hand with cards that they can't play, 'cause you aren't blocking them, and is often as effective as successfully blocking anyways. Sorry but Mariel's damage occurs *after* combat (so it isn't modified by the Dawn Op). Halcyan 2

Hmm, in that case I guess that a retainer who normally has 2 life will follow its reqruiter into the next combat with only 1 life. The rules (from what I find) only says that retainers autoheal non-killing damage taken in combat. Sten During
