It hasn't been working for me about a week now, and the web page says, ironically, "USENET server is fully working again". -Peter

[ quoted text not captured ] I've jumped ship from aioe.org (sudden, unannounced loss of service is Not Good in my book), and am currently using news.motzarella.org. Positive: It has all the groups and a big backlog, several months worth. Negative: Every now and then there are service outages. They are annoyingly frequent, but fortunately last for a very short while. HG

Huh. I was using that. And then went to aioe.org. And am trying news.motzarella.org, but I can't get it to connect. And I can't find a website with info. You have somewhere good to check? Thanks! -Peter

And if I recall correctly, the site requires registration before they start feeding you news, but I don't remember the technical details. Hope I said something useful. HG

h...@iki.fi (Janne Hägglund) writes: [ quoted text not captured ] Ah yes, the site requires you to register, and then to configure your newsreader to send your username and password when it's connecting. http://news.motzarella.org/index.php?showpage=faq That's probably where your problem was. HG

Heh--thanks! I was apparently already registered, and just forgot my password. All works now. Thanks again! (ugh) Scott, I have been using aioe.org for a backup to my cox.net Usenet, and aioe.org works flawlessly. They even filter out those garbage sales posts.
