Hi there, * It seems that if a vampire with superior Serpentis blocks a recruit action and plays Set's Call, the stolen ally is put in the ready reagion (and could therefore attempt to block an action before the end of the turn). Is this correct ? - Suppose a vampire tries to recruit a Cry Wolf and gets blocked by a vampire with Serpentis superior. * Can the blocking vampire play Set's Call ? * Is the acting vampire in torpor at the end of the action? - I'm not really sure about Set's Call timing window. In this topic http://groups.google.fr/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/6da1397de23aecc0 you say Set's Call can only be played before a Slave minion decides to enter combat instead of the acting minion. In this post http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/3d6826146c7201a2 you explain that the acting Methuselah gets the impulse to do things as he declares the action blocked - including activating the Slave rule. I don't see how Set's Call can squeeze in there. Does it have its own window? Thanks ~ ~ ~ Set's Call Cardtype: Reaction Discipline: Serpentis [ser] Only usable when this vampire successfully blocks an employ retainer action (play before combat). The action is successful (and the cost is paid), but this reacting vampire takes control of the retainer. Combat does not occur. [SER] As above, but usable when a recruit ally action is blocked. You take control of the ally. Cry Wolf Cardtype: Ally Unique werewolf with 3 life. 2 strength, 0 bleed. Requires a ready anarch. If the action to recruit this ally is blocked, the acting anarch goes to torpor. This werewolf must enter combat with any minion controlled by another Methuselah as a (D) action. He gets one optional press each combat. This werewolf does not untap as normal during your untap phase. If he is tapped during your untap phase, burn him.

Is this correct ? No. The action is successful (card text). The ally is recruited. Which means he is in the uncontrolled region. > - Suppose a vampire tries to recruit a Cry Wolf and gets blocked by a > vampire with Serpentis superior. > * Can the blocking vampire play Set's Call ? No. I say after. Acting minion goes first. (That's 3 and 4 of the listed steps in that article) I also note that the Set's Call will be played before that slave-combat is begun, however. It has the same timing window. And then, to be perfectly clear (TBPC), I say: The block combat does not occur either way, due to card text on Set's Call and rules text for Slaves. The Slave combat will occur as normal, if the Tremere's Meth chose to use the Slave mechanic. > In this post http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/3d6826146c7201a2 > you explain that the acting Methuselah gets the impulse to do things > as he declares the action blocked - including activating the Slave > rule. Yes, as per the earlier thread as well. > I don't see how Set's Call can squeeze in there. Does it have its own > window? No.
