I just bought a starter deck and a booster pack today, and tried a game with my roomate (who'd bought a starter and booster as well.) At only 30 blood, it seems as though you're pretty much confined to having small vampires, and perhaps one larger one if you ever expect to get weapons (which is the only way I've seen thus far to get a decent damage yield) which are awfully nice in that most ranged weapons give you a manuever, thereby ensuring that you won't take damage but they will. In this game the act of blocking taps you, correct? As does going on the hunt to regain health? So once a vampire starts dying it's going to keep dying round after round if the attacker chooses to keep coming until the defender dies? (as the vampire can't afford to hunt since it'd be unable to block.) Any of the political vote cards can be used to cast a yes or no vote? So if I call a vote with a Peace Treaty, I can use a Political Flux card as an extra vote for a total of 2 (assuming no vampires with votes)? How do you play with Kine Resources Contested and Telepathic Misdirection in a two player game?? :) In any case, I'd also appreciate any pointers to Jyhad info so I can understand it a bit better. Is there an FTP site around that has discussions on it? Brent Burkholder eyeq@ee.wpi.edu

Yes, you can burn political action cards for value of the vote on the card i.e. - "WORTH 1 VOTE" during a vote. You do not, however, replace those burned cards until after the vote is finished. > How do you play with Kine Resources Contested and Telepathic Misdirection > in a two player game?? :) Kine Resources Contested: "Divide 4 points among at least 2 Methuselahs. Successful vote means each point represents the loss of 1 pool." In a two player game or near the end of a multiplayer game the solution is easy; give yourself a point and your predator/prey 3 points. If you can't take the loss of 1 pool then don't play that card. Telepathic Misdirection: auspex;"+1 intercept" sup. auspex;"A minion bleeding you is now bleeding a Methuselah of your choice, other than that minion's Methuselah. Etc., etc., etc.... You would not be able to utilize the sup. auspex in a two-player game or a game widdled down to 2 players. You can, however, still utilize the auspex of +1 intercept.

You definitely have to balance things like the size of your vampires in your crypt vs. the types of weapons in your deck (if any) vs. how many ways you have to get blood back, yes. >In this game the act of blocking taps you, correct? You seem to have the hunting/blocking relationship backwards, though; as long as the vampire can stay ready but with no blood, it will have to hunt on your next minion phase, and thus will be unavailable fro blocking. >Any of the political vote cards can be used to cast a yes or no vote? Sure. >How do you play with Kine Resources Contested and Telepathic Misdirection >in a two player game?? :) With Kine Resources Contested, you'll be taking at least some of the damage (presumably only 1 point). Superior Telepathic Misdirection is essentially useless in a 2-player game. >In any case, I'd also appreciate any pointers to Jyhad info so I can >understand it a bit better. I had thought that you could not play more cards than you needed to succeed at an action. If your vote passes with 1 vote, then you are not allowed to play other cards for needless votes. (Of course, your own voting vampires, especially Malkavians, can always vote against you. ;-) Similarly, if your action is unblocked, you cannot play additional Stealth cards to needlessly hide the action more. I may have to go home and memorize the rules again. :-) papillo the interpreter

Another good trick is to cast Minion Tap on a large vampire after you bring it out. This is also good insurance if your opponent is fond of aggrivated damage combos. -steve

In a previous article, papillo@fc.hp.com (Bob Ellison) says: >The current ruling is that entering combat (as a result of Haven >Uncovered or Bum's Rush) also taps a minion if not already tapped, >correct? I'd like someone to confirm this, because we have played otherwise.. Has this been found in the rules or is it a WotC ruling? I've reasoned that it doesn't take a whole day (or action, whatever) of my mean Thaumathurgy heavy-hitter Lazarus to finish off the loser who comes to knock on his/her door, asking for a duel... ;-) Seriously, I think that blocking an action (that taps the blocker) demands much more time and effort that fight that comes straight to where you are. On the other hand, the Bum's Rush (or whatever) could be timed accurately to delay Lazarus jumping on his Sport Bike to catch someone bleeding me on the other side of the city, so that he'd arrive on the place half an hour late or something.. Now that I begun to think of it, both alternatives seem to make sense. >> >Any of the political vote cards can be used to cast a yes or no vote? Besides, my political deck would miss one cool super-bleed combo if 'needless' votes were not allowed to cast, 'Elder Kindred Network', the Ventrue card that can be used when someone else calls a vote - for every vote the caller loses the vote by, the caller also loses 1 blood. Throw in Dread Gaze and Business Pressure, perhaps burn some political actions to go.. ;-) This works of course best if you've managed to convince the target that you're really voting for him, or abstaining from the vote. Then just Dramatic Upheaval yourself to bleeding position, if you weren't the poor fellow's predator already.. -- / \ Listen all of y'all it's the Pirkka Hartikainen /<O>\ S A B O T A G E! I need a list of all the Jyhad cards (and commonalities)! Thanx -MoonWolf (dcnblus@wam.umd.edu)

The next printing of the Jyhad rules will say that any minion entering combat for any reason becomes tapped if it wasn't already. It's probably best to play this way now, and get in the habit. There is a specific rule against playing a stealth or intercept card when you don't need to (though you can overkill the amount you actually need to raise it by, e.g. using superior Enhanced Senses when inferior will do), but not against "overkilling" in general. You can use Undead Strength even if normal hand damage would be enough to torpor the other minion, can use Govern the Unaligned even if the player to be bled only has one pool, can burn political cards in favor of a vote even if it's already due to pass, etc. Tom Wylie rec.games.deckmaster Network Representative for aahz@hal.com Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

Has the second printing begun shipping? The last few boosters I bought seemed to be missing the slick coating that the first ones had, and I was wondering if Carta Mundi had changed their printing process or what. Do I need to buy a deck of the current run to get the current rules, or should I just write to customer service for a fresh copy? -- If he were opened, and you find so much blood in his | a-Henh! liver as will clog the foot of a flea, I'll eat the | Brian Wilson rest of the anatomy. | William Shakespeare |

Does this mean BOTH the acting vamp and the blocking vamp are tapped? Interesting twist in the strategy then...
