Mitru the Hunter Gangrel Anti Group 4 ani for CEL OBF PRO Sabbat: Cards that require Celerity cost Mitru 1 less blood to play. Pretty nifty, a group 4 version Miller Delmardigan, Teacher of Bahari.

He is a solid 8 pointer with three in clan superiors (for city gangrel), and two "out of clan" inferiors (making him a slightly undergunned country gangrel) with a solid ability. Yeah, sure, Miller has the same special (but also he teaches bahari, I mean, has +1 hand damage) but different disciplines. I'm not so much seeing the problem. -Peter

[ quoted text not captured ] I agree he's an excellent vampire. He's especially good since both of his "out of clan" disciplines are the remaining disciplines for the Country Gangrel - it gives him synergy in a lot more decks. Sure he ain't no Owain Evans or Count Germaine, but at least he's better than Ardan Lane, Katarina Kornfeld, and Muhandis. The one thing I can't puzzle out however, is why Mitru is special enough to justify FOUR different threads on the same topic on this newsgroup! What's up with all these redundant threads?

[ quoted text not captured ] I don't want to be offensive, but all these complaints on Black Annis and Mitru seems to be nothing more than excuses to avoid admitting they're pretty solid and worth buying. Many players would be more comfortable to indulge in rightful complain about grouping if the vamps were next to unusable or totally ineffective when mixed with older minions, meaning "I do not feel tempted to buy them". Since almost all offer new possibilities and the rest offer sensible variation of already existing strategies, accepting them for what they are would mean accepting the grouping rule. But then what would remain to complain about? The banning of KR and DU? best, Fabio "Sooner" Macedo V:EKN National Coordinator for Brazil -------------------------------------- Now a "luminary", whatever it means: http://www.thelasombra.com/WhosWho/fabiomacedo.htm

Annis and Mitru are both solid Vampires when it comes to their disciplines and specialties. Mitru, being one of the npc characters I kind of liked in Transylvanian Chronicles, is pretty nice altogether, from Disciplines to the picture. Of course, if you complain him to Miller, without the +1 str Mitru will just never be as good as Miller in what Miller does best - and I guess that's what most are muttering. He has for for prevent, animalism for DotB and with the !Gangrel path he plays Blur + Claws for free. Black Annis, on the other hand is more of a rip-off. Annis, Beast.. both !nossies, except Annis has the no-brainer protean and she's better in rite about everything else. What I hate though, is the picture, which reminds me mostly of bad Tales from the Crypt cover art that tried very hard to look like B-rated camp. I'd hate dumping Beast for Annis, and having to look at her. When you play Beast it's like "Aaannd it'ssshh the Beaastrgghh!" With Annis, I imagine it'll be closer to "*cough* I have this silly looking cartoon !nossie here.." Small gripe. Would've liked her to no end without David Day's school grade artwork. In general you are partly right when it comes to me. I haven't played too much with group 4. Mostly because from my POV it would require some heavy investment into the cards (not that I didn't buy a lot of them already) and the options I have with group 4 just aren't worth it. Maybe after a few more expansions when I have accumulated enough of them and get tired of them gathering dust. //T

But I'm one of the few who actually like most of Christopher Shy's artwork for WW, so I won't expect anyone to adhere to my aesthetics. We've had plenty of different art styles on V:TES, from anime-inspired library cards to general photoshop enhancement and pulp-book cover illustration, so I gave up on that issue long ago. What I can expect in that regard is that the publishers are the first ones to be desire a clear and uniform art between expansions, but that is just not possible given issues like artist availability, time schedule and such. That would make me feel more resigned on the art mess that is V:TES. >In general you are partly right when it comes to me. I haven't played >too much with group 4. Go Anarch! :) That's what I do to most 3/4 vamps I do have when I note that I don't have a proper crypt available to go monoclan. Note that I'm nowhere near completing the Camarilla set when it comes to crypt cards yet. Going anarch serves the purpose of putting them to good use right now. But of course, that depends on how much one is willing to be beaten up by more focused decks until it finds some balance between anarch cards and "normal" ones. Myself, I don't mind losing horribly 4 times if in the fifth I can pull something threatening with anarchs in the fifth game... best, Fabio "Sooner" Macedo V:TES National Coordinator for Brazil ----------------------------------------------------- now a "luminary", whatever it means: http://www.thelasombra.com/WhosWho/fabiomacedo.htm

I presume the quoted poster was referring to an unambiguous synergy between Miller and Mitru, which is condemned to remain unexploited because of a conflict in their groups. Or to rephrase: It's a frickin' shame he's a group 4-er, for him and Miller would make good buddies in a deck. Which I kind of could agree with, by the way. Unless the "New" is a change in the grouping rule... -- Bye, Daneel

By the way, this is what bugs me most about him (and newer !Gangrel with a similar discipine spread). I like clear-cut !Gangrel like Wren, Darrel Boyce, Zachary, Ellen Fence, Samantha, Haakon Mortenssen, etc. I'm not sure why !Gangrel have to end up with 5 disciplines mixed all over them. Grumble. -- Bye, Daneel

Daneel

[ quoted text not captured ] I must confess though, that Mitru is a borderline case. He is clearly a City Gangrel, works fine in that capacity, and as such his extra disciplines are not a problem at all. The problem - as I see it - are those vampires who aren't really either City or Country (but pay for the disciplines of both division). So Mitru basically reminded me of the problem, but my assessment was hasty in including him in the same basket as Harry Reese and Maria Stone lie in. -- Bye, Daneel

nah.. if it was about the grouping rule it would be a rules update, not a new rule.... it´ll probably be something about non-gehenna events...or something completely different, but i don´t think it´ll be about grouping.

"New" != "New rule". The other new rules were all listed: "New rule", not just "New". "New" is more like, "It's NEW AND IMPROVED"...as in, some new feature or element to the product as a whole.
