Harrod steps back to long range with his Thrown gate's manuever. (though this question applies to all strikes with built in manuevers, such as Aid from bats and guns like the 44 etc.) Badger steps to close with Form of the Ghost. Range is set at close for the first round. Badger plays Immortal Grapple. Since Harrod used a manuever from a strike card he is forced to use that strike. But Immortal Grapple only allows hand strikes to be played for that round. Is Harrod 1) screwed and gets no strike, or 2) does the Grapple cancel the effects of that require strike and allow him to play a hand strike? I would say it is 1 (and that's they way we've played it in my group) If #1 is the correct answer, what if Harrod plays blur. Since he didn't played the gate for it's manuever and still hasn't thrown it does he keep trying to throw it(since he is required to use a strike when using it for a manuever) while badger has her claws wrapped around him or can he opt to use his hands for his two strikes and just drop the gate? (or can he hold on to the gate, press and providing another immortal grapple isn't played, can he throw it in the second round????) ~ Biomechanoid

Harrod just loses, since he may not play any strikes other than the Gate, and IG prevents that as well. > >If #1 is the correct answer, what if Harrod plays blur. The same question can be asked this way: "What if I maneuver to long range with my gun, then blur; can I throw a sewer lid?" The answer is yes, since you are only required to shoot the gun in the first strike. So Harrod can punch for his two additional strikes. > >(or can he hold > >on to the gate, press and providing another immortal grapple isn't played, > >can he throw it in the second round????) No, the gate is lost; it was played as a strike, and that strike was "cancelled" by the immortal grapple and is now gone. Additional strikes are never bound to the maneuver-giver. >use his hands for his two strikes and just drop the gate? On each strike thereafter he can try his hands. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [ quoted text not captured ]

As I feel it is my mission in unlife, I must comment, even if I am being repetitive. Your first strike would be nullified, as you need to throw the gate, but you can't. Any other strikes from a blur could be what ever you want, as long as they are hand strikes (I guess Harrod dropped the gate). -Peter D Bakija
