Ghoul Retainer & manuvers

An open question, and specifically, L. Scott, since our "official" netrep does not seem to exist anymore... Selma has a ghoul retainer, a murder of crows, and is attacking Anson via a haven uncovered. Anson cannot avoid combat. Selma plays a disguised weapon/ Submachine gun. Can she hand the submachine gun to her ghoul, use the manuver, and toss sewer lid? Or does using the manuver require that Selma use the SMG? Can retainers manuver for vampires in this fashion? Thanks in advance for the ruling(opinion?) L. Scott... Alec Chang

Scott... 1) If Selma maneuvers with a strike-provider, then that locks *her* strike for the initial strike of the round. So, she can't then throw the sewer lid, regardless of what the Ghoul wishes to use. (Another way of looking at this is that the Ghoul's use of the weapon doesn't constitute a "strike", so won't fulfill the requirements of using the weapon's maneuver). One is still using the gun for >one's strike, just not the one immediately after the maneuver. Using a gun's maneuver locks you into striking with that gun for the initial strike of the round. If your minion gets additional strikes, any strike can be used for the additionals, including firing the gun again. ---- From: aa...@cats.ucsc.edu (Thomas R Wylie) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad Subject: Re: Retainers vs. dodges Date: 2 Jan 1996 18:44:58 GMT Message-ID: <4cbufa$h...@darkstar.UCSC.EDU> Dodges just prevent effects of strikes, and damage from retainers (even damage provided by a weapon via Ghoul Retainer) are just collateral damage. While the damage may be prevented, it cannot be avoided with a dodge. ---------- 2) Retainers cannot use maneuvers in the stead of their employer. Some retainers provide maneuvers to their employer (Ms. Therman), but it is still the employer who must use the maneuver.
