Stupid Martinelli's Ring Question...

Does the tempted vampire return to his original controller if the temptation burns before the end of my turn? It's a card driven effect, but if the card is no longer there would the effect still last? Was wondering if the Martinelli's ring could be used that way. Maybe it's like the bomb... I take a (D) action to burn a location, and was blocked. The bomb is burnted in combat somehow, and then I form of mist. The action continues but fails since the bomb is no longer there... The effect fizzles. I'm pretty sure it's going to be still returned to the OG controller, but it's worth asking. It'll be evil if it did work that way... Temptation Type: Action Requires: Serpentis Cost: 1 blood [ser] (D) Put this card on a ready vampire; you still control this card. During your master phase, you may put a counter on this card. During your minion phase, if the number of counters on this card equals or exceeds the amount of blood on that vampire, you may burn all the counters on this card to untap that vampire and take control of him or her until the end of your turn. [SER] As above, but put a counter on this card when you put it on the vampire. Martinelli's Ring Type: Equipment Unique equipment. Cards that require Malkavian, Malkavian antitribu, Dementation [dem] or Serpentis [ser] cannot target or be placed on this minion. Burn any cards on this minion that require any of those clans or Disciplines.

This is moot, but the alternative would be to lose the control granted by Temptation when Temptation is burned, not to keep that control forever.
