Hi, i have a question: in combat, vamp A is going to torpor, and plays undead persistence; combat goes on, and in the subsequent rounds(same combat) vamp A receives enough aggravated damage to be burned, but plays ashes to ashes: at that point, can vamp A plays undead persistence again, and keep him/herself in combat? thanks in advance, Emiliano, v:ekn Prince of Rome

No, it cannot play Undead Persistence again, because it will not go to torpor until the combat is finished. Just as the "go to torpor" effect of Disarm is delayed until the end of combat by Undead Persistence, the "go to torpor instead" effect of Ashes to Ashes will be delayed until combat actually ends. LSJ 2002-02-11 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=3C67C186.22C0B084%40white-wolf.com --------------------- if a vamp plays undead persistence when about to go to torpor, and then in a later round plays ashes to ashes what happens? Does ATA end combat? Or does the ATA effect only kick in when the vamp finally goes to torpor after the rounds of undead persistence? ATA doesn't end combat per se. It sends the vampire to torpor. Undead Persistence prevents that effect. The rest of A2A's effect occurs normally. --------------------- Carpe noctem. Ok, but i was meaning a different thing: vamp A is being burned due aggro damage in combat, vamp A plays Ashes to Ashes at the fortitude version (then vampire A is not burned, but sent to torpor instead), can vamp A plays undead persistence at that point (going into torpor due AtA, and keeping himself in combat with UP)? guess yes, but need some confirmation. thanks again EMiliano [ quoted text not captured ]

No, since AtA won't send him to torpor - the previously-played UP is keeping him out of torpor, as The Lasombra said. The previously-played UP keeps him in combat (and therefore he cannot play another, since he isn't actually going to torpor at the time). > guess yes, but need some confirmation. See the post The Lasombra quoted for you below, which confirms the opposite. > thanks again > > EMiliano > > > > > Just as the "go to torpor" effect of Disarm is delayed until the > > end of combat by Undead Persistence, the "go to torpor instead" effect > > of Ashes to Ashes will be delayed until combat actually ends. > > > > > > LSJ 2002-02-11 > > http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=3C67C186.22C0B084%40white-wolf.com > > > > --------------------- > > if a vamp plays undead persistence when about to go to torpor, and > > then in a later round plays ashes to ashes what happens? OK, assuming the vamp A has not previously played a undead persistance(same combat), can he play one just after playing ashes to ashes ? thanks in advance once more Emiliano <snip>

The first time in a combat that a vampire is sent to torpor, it may play an Undead Persistence to remain in combat. [ quoted text not captured ]
