What happens when a minion uses a Dagger to strike for ranged strength damage, which is then prevented? Is it: a) Dagger is out of play, so card text does not trigger and the effect is not triggered when it comes back into play, leaving the Dagger in play, b) Dagger is out of play, so card text does not trigger but the effect is triggered when it comes back into play, burning the Dagger as it comes back in play, or c) Dagger burns before it can be put out of play? Thanks in advance. -YY

[ quoted text not captured ] It's always better with cardtext ;) Dagger Cardtype: Equipment Cost: 1 pool Melee weapon. Cold iron. You may put a second Dagger from your hand or ash heap on this minion when you equip this Dagger from your hand. Strike: strength+1 damage. Alternatively, strike: strength ranged damage and, after strike resolution, put this weapon out of play until the end of the action. Burn this weapon if any damage from it is prevented. "after strike resolution" clearly solves the point. c) Dagger is burned during strike resolution.

[ quoted text not captured ] Thanks for the quick reply, floppy. So, to clarify: Damage Resolution (6.4.6) is part of Strike Resolution (6.4.3)? I'm a little confused, since they are described under separate sections (even if 6.4.3 references to 6.4.6). - YY

[ quoted text not captured ] Damage resolution (6.4.6) is part of strike resolution (6.4.3) as described in the outline: http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/?line=outline [VI.C.2.c "damage resolution" is part of VI.C.2 "strike resolution"]

[ quoted text not captured ] To be clear, damage resolution is part of whatever is going on to inflict damage, whether it be strike resolution or some non-strike effect like Talbot's Chainsaw's untap phase effect.
