+1 stealth action, cost 1 blood dom: add 1 blood to a vampire you control obe: burn a card on an ally or younger vampire in your ready region OBE: as obe, abd untap this vampire at the end of the turn. this card is Rare, I don't know if it will be really played (one or 2 per deck maybe...)

PaulW...@gmail.com

Will be used alot to remove Sensory deprivation, Memories of mortality, Fame etc. Just to bad the dominate version of the card will never be used

Luis Duarte - Powerbase:Lisbon

[ quoted text not captured ] A lot? Since it applies only to a vampire in your ready region probably you'll see few in the Salubri decks. Depends a bit on the game environment you're playing (with plenty of Ravnos, etc). IMO (without knowing the rest of LoB new cards) this card doesn't bring anything new, highly playable and needed to make the Salubri more interesting and/or efficient. It's a corner case card. The combination with Dominate it's ok to match Spirit Marionette card, but its effect isn't interesting at all. At least the other vampire should gain 2 blood... .- Luis Duarte

Orpheus

[ quoted text not captured ] I agree with you mostly Luis. Question : can the action be done to burn "0" card on an ally ? Could be a way to untap him... Orpheus, Necromonger

Johannes Walch

[ quoted text not captured ] I think "this" refers to the acting vampire so you will untap the acting vampire (if he has OBE) at the end of the turn. If it would refer to the other ally/vampire it would be "that". But then again I could be wrong.

The card's text does actually use 'that minion' not 'this minion', so it does untap the one on whom you burn a card. -John Flournoy

So the card will be fairly useless because any clever player will put Fame, Sensory Deprivation etc. on the oldest vampire or the vampire with Obeah. At least not a power rare. You will need the card maybe once for your binder. regards pallando --------------------- pallando(at)gmx(dot)at

[ quoted text not captured ] Excellent, the path to the escaped mental patient wall, rotshit and cleansing ritual deck is cleared then! MWHAHAHAHA!

Luis Duarte - Powerbase:Lisbon

The card (in superior OBE) states "untap that minion", the target of the action. Since it requires a younger vampire it can't be played on himself (the acting) to untap. Orpheus: i believe you can't play Cleansing Ritual without a target just to untap. In that case you don't have condition to be able to play the card. .- Luis Duarte

[ quoted text not captured ] Or Contract, Anathema, Mercy for Seth, Society of Leopold, Derange, Vampiric Disease, XTC Laced Blood, The Haunting, Haqim's Law: Judgement and tons of others. Note that even if some are removable by its own card text, Cleansing Ritual allows one to circumvent the requirements for that removal - and still untap the affected vampire in that turn. Not to mention that it serves to get rid of a card that would be floating around the table like Derange or SoL. And finally, a good bunch of these cards cannot be removed AT ALL except by Cleansing Ritual or the ousting of the controlling player. So if you're playing Matthias and Arika, and Arika gained a SoL, you don't lose a turn to move the Society - Arika does what she must (a vote or whatever), Matthias burns the Society. No delay in your game. I'd expect to have at least one card played by another Meth on one of my vampires every single game. Other possible use for Cleansing Ritual is as a Precog Mobility of sorts for free in any deck that uses cards that are put in play, but become useless in short time or will burn themselves anyway - like Ex Nihilo or Khabar: Glory. Bleed with an Assamite for +1, and if you can't oust now, play Cleansing Ritual to burn the Glory on the Assamite and untap him to block. I'm sure there's other cards out there you could team up with Cleansing this way. I'd want at least 2 copies for each Salubri deck I build anytime. best, Fabio "Sooner" Macedo

[ quoted text not captured ] Your forgetting the cpacity restriction in your analysis. It is the cap problem that makes this card sub optimal IMO, as normally its the larger vampires that have those nasty cards played on them, as you show in your examples... I doubt I will use it personally. -ant

I just got back from my ("second") wedding, and of course I went straight to today's preview. Interesting thought for using this card: Play Ghouled on a mortal ally when you recruit him. Then use this as a free untap later. :)

Jozxyqk wrote: > Interesting thought for using this card: > Play Ghouled on a mortal ally when you recruit him. > Then use this as a free untap later. :) I will use this a lot in salubri/tzimisce bauble deck, no need to bring many small tzimisces into play anymore... :P

Fabio 'Sooner' Macedo

[ quoted text not captured ] Ooops. :) One can call me a dealbreaker, I don't care, but cheater, no! :-P Well, despite the fact that some pointed out "these cards tend to be played on the bigger vampires", the idea is still valid. Swap Arika for any 6-cap you'd be using a lot - say, Joaquina Amaya in a Salubri/Ravnos deck. The basic principles still apply, even if your predator or prey would target Matthias instead of Joaquina (and since you've played no Cleansing yet, that's not an impromptu choice to make); chances are, if the two vampires act a lot, that Joaquina will have her copy of whatever the other players throw at you too. 2 copies of Cleansing Ritual should suffice, as previously mentioned. best, Fabio "Sooner" Macedo

I guess Ian Forestal could also get rid of any dangerously fat Infernal Familiars, although I realise he usually has more important things to do.

It is a card with a reasonably high opportnuity cost (you need to have someone play cards on your vampires)--regardless of any other factors, why would you want more than a few of such a card in your deck in any case? Like, I'm not seeing how it is a problem of the card that you only want a few in the deck. It is the same for any card that has an opportunity cost--having a lot of them is never a good idea. And yeah, it requires playing the card on a younger vampire, and the biggest Salubri is a 7. We know we are getting new Bloodlines vampires. Who is to say we won't get a bigger Salubri? -Peter

Expand! Expand! I am intrigued! Quoting my posts, in reference to a question from someone else about a suggestion of a "Bauble Trick deck" that he didn't understand (I'm assuming that he wasn't familiar with the card Bauble, or its use with weenie vampires to get you Assault Rifles, or whatever). Look up the card text for Bauble. It allows "free" weapons (typically, big ones like Assault Rifles or Flamethrowers). However, the card being on a vampire disables that vampire for many purposes, but that the Bauble card being burned for some reason doesn't burn the equipment. So some people have done silly decks involving a Bauble to fetch expensive equipment, followed by burning the vampire with the Bauble card, then calling them back with Possession or somesuch. (Yes, the feared nec/vic/for combo. Funny deck, though.) If you burn the Bauble card using the new Cleansing Ritual, the equipment stays in play (as no card text causes it to burn) but the vampire who played the Bauble is free to act again. A Salubri multi-action deck, with Freak Drives, could be given a Flamethrower or Assault Rifle by a Tzimisce backup weenie, get rid of the Bauble card, Freak Drive, rush... And then untap the Tzimisce at the end of the turn. The smallest AUS/vic is a 5 cap, alas - for Telepathic Misdirection/Auspex bounce defence. A combination of a big weapon, Neutral Guard (to set range) and Vitae Block (to get the blood back), along with assorted other nastiness could be great fun. Then a post a few minutes later (after the five minute interval where I could edit it to fix my mistake). > A combination ... Vitae Block (to get the blood back) Guh, despite having the card text in front of me I managed to think it gave the vampire the blood, not the card. Mutter. Still useful, though, as it can drop the vampire's blood enough that your Assault Rifle torpors it or your Flamethrower burns it, or whatever. Taste of Vitae to get blood back in general, I guess, from the damage you do. Still, the basic moving parts are there. [ quoted text not captured ]

Also lovely about VB is, of course, that rescue from torpor can be paid by the torporee. And spontaneous power allows mono-tzimi version of the deck.
