(see: Turbo Arika) As much as I think that the design of the game should exclude "infinite loop" combos, I don't think we've seen either the Soul Gem or Archon demonstrated to be disruptive to game balance. The Turbo-Arika, Turbo- Baron, Soul-Gem-Huitzilopochtli-Great-Beast, and Tyler-Archon decks haven't at all been dominant in the tournament scene, despite their successes (or lack thereof). - Ben Peal, Prince of Boston fu...@mindstorm.com

(as an idle side note, the following scenario happened recently...) a Turbo-Baron variant as my prey with a full Baron up first. My Krassimir up with a Masquer and Guardian Angel attached, along with Cameron and Paul diCarlo. Baron attempts to get the Soul Gem, blocked by Krassimir with help from the Baron's prey playing Draba after the stealth modifier. Krassimir extracts a Signpost from his wallet, backhands 6 blood off the Baron and Disarms him into torpor -- Paul bleeds, Cameron eats the Baron protected by the Edge and gets a NEC skill card. Soul Gem and Baron *both* in ash heap = bad things, man. Fast-forward several turns... Carlotta has come out, retrieved the Soul Gem with her ability, equipped it, and Possessed the Baron back into play. Krassimir has gotten a NEC skill card. Baron attempts to get the Soul Gem... gets blocked by Krassimir with superior Spectral Divination and nudged into torpor again. Carlotta eats the Baron... and burns because I still had the Edge. Oops. Fortunately, Rudolfo Giovanni is the crypt-topper and comes out, so the Soul Gem is not lost to the ash heap. Rudy successfully Possesses the Baron, the Baron gets the Soul Gem, and Force of Wills at inferior for a bleed of 3. Hurray! The Baron poofs, and Gisela Harden comes out full. No Possessions in hand at the moment, but still in decent shape overall, right? Comes around to my turn? Krassimir Daemonically Possesses the Baron. Some days just aren't good days for sleaze... =) -- "There's no gray. There's just white that's got grubby." -- T.P.

(see: Turbo Arika) It has been reviewed several times already, yes. Do you feel something has been missed or that the situation for Soul Gem has changed? Or do you feel that things should not be reviewed until they are proven to be broken? -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. I was just curious as to whether it was reviewed at all, as it seemed to be of the same ilk as Archon in terms of its potential for looping. > Or do you feel that things should not be reviewed until they are proven > to be broken? I'm torn on it, really. On one hand, I'm of the opinion that the game should be left alone unless a problem arises. On the other hand, I appreciate the diligence of the Rules Team, and the efforts towards preventative maintainance. :) In the case of Archon and Soul Gem, my feeling on them is that the No Repeat Actions rules were created to prevent looping (please correct me if I'm wrong), and as such, Archon and Soul Gem seem to violate that notion. So, on one hand, there hasn't yet been a problem with them, so I'd be inclined to leave them alone. On the other hand, they seem inconsistent with the development of the game with respect to No Repeat Actions and looping, so I'd be inclined to change them. Fortunately, I'm not one of the decision-makers. :) [ quoted text not captured ]
