So, after our last game, the following Qs came up : - Fame is unique ; if you put a second one in game, who contests them ? If you put both on the same Methuselah, does he contest them with himself ? - Anesthetic touch says "Only usable at close range. [aus]: Strike: dodge. [obe]: Strike: make a hand strike. Combat ends immediately after the resolution of this strike. [OBE]: As [obe] above, with First Strike." So it's a hand strike. Does it means you can play it even under Immortal grapple ?!? - Lightning Reflexes costs one blood, and in sup you can "spend X blood for X additionals" ; do you still have to play 1 blood first, then X blood, or is it one or the other ? In other words, you have CEL and want 2 additionals, do you spend 2 or 3 blood ?? - I know it has been debated B4, but could someone please remind me : when you Spirit Marionette someone and you have Heidelberg Castle in game, can you tap / use it right after the Spirited minion has acted and right B4 you give him back, or does it have to B B4 the said action ? No. The player controls Fame. If you die, the Fames you play go with you (so your predator doesn't get to use them on your prey, for instance). >- Anesthetic touch says "Only usable at close range. In other words, you have CEL and want 2 >additionals, do you spend 2 or 3 blood ?? If you want 2 additional strikes, at superior, you spend 1 blood. Before is fine. Even with mandatory actions, there is still a phase during which you can play/use cards usable between actions. With Spirit Marionette, you keep them until "the end of the next action". Heidelberg can only be used outside of actions - by which time I would have said that Spirit Marionette has already handed the vampire back to its original controller. -- James Coupe Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks, PGP 0x5D623D5D And the rich folks hate the poor folks. Ok, so then if I put a second one in the game, I will lose 2 at my next untap, right ? And then I can conceed one of them, therefore leaving another one in play, still right ? > >- I know it has been debated B4, but could someone please remind me : when > >you Spirit Marionette someone and you have Heidelberg Castle in game, can > >you tap / use it right after the Spirited minion has acted and right B4 you > >give him back, or does it have to B B4 the said action ? > > Before is fine. I would think so too, but have to B sure... Thanks for your answers James. -- Yours, [ quoted text not captured ]

I tried to look in the Googles archive but didn't quite get the answer to : can it be used at long range (if you don't hit the opposing minion, does combat end with first strike anyway) ? And it looks like it works even if dodged, so it's kind of weird...

No. You cannot play the second one, since you are not allowed to contest with yourself. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Actually, you can't put a second one in the game if you already control one (can't self-contest). If you manage to gain control of a second one (somehow), then yes, during you untap phase, you should pay 1 to keep one of them and then yield the other one. Then the one that you kept will come into play during your next turn. Halcyan 2

[LSJ 20011210] "Note also the the "combat ends after this strike is resolved" only applies at close range, since it doesn't say otherwise (and, as before, it isn't covered by the S:CE rules, so doesn't get the "effective at long range" benefit of those rules)." 3C14C164...@white-wolf.com > And it looks like it works even if >dodged, so it's kind of weird... It does. Dodge only protects the dodger from effects of a strike. For instance, a random card that said "Strike: gain 1 blood" would not be affected by dodge. [ quoted text not captured ]

No. You cannot put a second one in the game voluntarily. Self-contestation was removed from the game. You cannot voluntarily do it. If you are involuntarily doing it, you burn the incoming copy of the card. (Note: you can bring in a second copy of Jimmy Dunn, since this is *not* contesting it.) [4.1] Be careful about putting duplicates of the same unique cards in your deck. You can't control more than one of the same unique card at a time, and you cannot contest cards with yourself. On the other hand, you may wish to have a second copy handy in case the first is burned. >And then I can conceed one of them, therefore leaving another >one in play, still right ? This came up before (in that earlier thread), but why can't people read card text! Card text of Anesthetic Touch explicitly states that it's only usable at close range. Thus the "can it be used at long range" is entirely moot due to card text. Halcyan 2

I would have thought that that was clear enough.
