Improving Anarchy

Ok, I know there are little chances that the suggested modification would be endorsed, but I have a little regret about the Anarch rules, and wanted to know what you guys think : seeing as Anarchy is now more obviously oriented for already independant clans, I regret that an independant with votes cannot become an Anarch. After all, seeing that an indy seldom (never ?) has more than 2 votes, that's a Baron without the benefit of playing Baron cards, so what the heck ? It could allow for some weird (and not what I'd call optimised !!) Anarch decks including Kahina, of course Synesios, Aziz, etc. All in all, 18 vamps would be concerned, which isn't much but would allow some more interesting combinations. I guess rather than adding a clause to the Anarch rule, not considering the "X Vote" as titled would be the best choice. What type of impact would that have ? ----------------- Orpheus "We can never know of what we are the seeds Until we flower." Lilith

Well, being titled prevents you from going Anarch (in various ways), makes you lose a vote in Free States Rant or when voting down a barony, and makes you susceptible to Thrones Crumble and Dismemberment of Osiris. Being Titled allows you to call National Guard Support and Reinforcements, or play Liberty Club Intrigue. ;) I think that being titled for the Indies is generally a balancing factor. I consider it a slight hindrance (mostly because voting is far easier with sect-based titles, and other than that, being titled has no real advantages while carrying some minor disadvantages). I also consider it somewhat unfair with respect to Anarchhood (because a Cammie or Sabbat vampire can simply change sects with one Trifle card and then be eligible for Anarchhood). All that said I consider changing the rule a very bad idea. Because we see what special ability votes do to a vampire; if Kephamos could join the Sabbat and be eligible for a Cardinal title, that would give him 5 total votes for a Trifle master and a political action. If Amisa changes clans to a Camarilla clan, she could get a Justicar title and still carry her own two votes. I'm not saying that giving some more vote power to the Indies would crush the game, but it would certainly upset the balance the designers had in mind. So all in all... better reword that Anarchy clause for the sake of game consistency. Like, specifically allowing Indies to forego or disregard their titles when/if going Anarch. Bye, Daneel

Can you play Out of the Frying Pan or Into the Fire in an independent titled vampire to change is Sect and then make the action to convert him to Anarch? The idea is that changing the Sect (other than Anarch) the vampire looses his X votes since it's a title, and titles are related to a Sect. I know this is a bit dummy, but if you really want to build an Anarch strategy based on an Independent titled vampire, some copies of OotFP or ItF could be a simple solution... It could be interesting (some examples have already been pointed) but i don't believe the basic-rules are going to be changed... but ok. .- Luis Duarte (Portugal)

No. He'd still be titled. "Bob has 2 votes" is not sect-dependent. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. "1 vote" and "2 votes" are sect independant titles, so you would have to: Into the Fire (only Sabbat can Out of the Frying Pan) Gain a title (Archbishop, Cardinal, Regent, etc.) (replacing the X votes title) Out of the Frying Pan (to lose the title) Go Anarch Alternatively, Rise of the Neptahli allows independants to dump their titles easier. --Colin McGuigan

"Bob has 2 votes" is not sect-dependent. If he changes the sect to Camarilla, can he call a Praxis Seizure to become Prince? In that situation, does he looses permanently the 2 votes after becoming Prince? If Bob is a Prince and someone calls a Command of the Harpies, does he regains the "Bob has 2 votes" again? .- Luis Duarte

Sure, just like any Camarilla vampire that isn't specifically prohibited. > In that situation, does he looses permanently the 2 votes after > becoming Prince? > If Bob is a Prince and someone calls a Command of the Harpies, does he > regains the "Bob has 2 votes" again? Yes and no, respectively. This stuff is in the rulebook. If you really want to have a titled independent become an Anarch, Clan Impersonation is probably the least card-intensive. Example: Sutekh plays Clan Impersonation and choses Ventrue (or any other Camarilla clan, but this option would let you slip a Ventrue HQ into play). Sutekh is now a Camarilla Ventrue with the title "2 votes." Sutekh calls Praxis Seizure: Geneva and it passes. Sutekh is now a Camarilla Ventrue with the title Prince of Geneva. He also gains a capacity (not that that's of any use here) and loses the "2 votes" title. Sutekh burns the Clan Impersonation and becomes a Follower of Set. His prince title becomes inactive because he's not the correct sect. He does not regain the "2 votes" title. He can now become an anarch. Overall, not worth it. Matt Morgan

Yes. Once you gain a title (even if it's immediately contested), you lose your previous title. > If Bob is a Prince and someone calls a Command of the Harpies, does he > regains the "Bob has 2 votes" again? No. At that point, he could go anarch. --Colin McGuigan

Prisci _are_ titled, but they count as having 0 votes for cards that work based on the number of votes a vampire has. salem domain:canberra http://www.geocities.com/salem_christ.geo/vtes.htm (replace "hotmail" with "yahoo" to email)
