This question is about the FIRST Sabbat Vtes set: Why isn't it available in stores (as opposed to ALL older sets???) ? Is a reprinting scheduled? Or Sabbat wars a re-edition of the original Sabbat set in "revised"? By the way, I heard a lot about Lucita (clap! clap! clap!) ...Now what about all the cool characters in the Vampire novels? (Err Personnaly I am REALLY interested in Fatima Al-Faqadi... ;-)

Because the stores (in your area) have sold out. All of the old sets (Sabbat included) are out of print. That means that when the various stores sell their remining stock, they can't order any more. > Is a reprinting scheduled? Not at the present time. > Or Sabbat wars a re-edition of the original Sabbat set in "revised"? Sabbat War (no 's') is not a revised edition of Sabbat. Sabbat War will include some cards from Sabbat (though not all), and will include new cards and some cards from other older sets as well. Much like Sabbat included some old cards and added new cards itself. > By the way, I heard a lot about Lucita (clap! clap! clap!) ...Now what > about all the cool characters in the Vampire novels? Well I know it ain't, and so do you, dear God, I can't believe in I don't believe in...

Sabbat boxes ain't cheap because the demand is higher than the supply. Dark Sovereigns, VTES and Jyhad, however, are very inexpensive. > Sabbat War...will include...some cards from other older sets as well. Really? Kick ass. I _really_ hope that WWEF, Pulled Fangs and the other cards that saw severe errata are among those being reprinted. It would certainly make some of us NJL types very happy. Btw, are there plans to print current errata with the new rule book? Since it would be prohibitively expensive to reprint all the cards with errata, it might be a wise idea to make sure that there's something in print to cover the ones that aren't reprinted. I love the game (v:tes) but can not justify spending the money people want for an unopened box of Sabbat. Will Sabbat War reprint enough of the original Sabbat release to effectively negate needing to spend big bucks on an old box of Sabbat? Are they planning to release decks for all of the Sabbat clans? I am afraid that this is going to turn in to M:TG, being that the only way to have a really cool Sabbat deck will require you to spend absorbent amounts of money to make the deck. I think you are absolutely Right. Initially when Jyhad (God we're getting old....) was released, it had (as opposed to the game I WILL NOT even evoque here) 2 qualities: first it authorised, by the depth of the implications of each decision, and subtle balance of power, a good deal of strategical challenge (and not mere card combos...). Secondly, as Extensions were NOT sceduled, ans commons were enough to play,it was not a COLLECTIBLE CG in its full meaning (you know what I mean...). Then V:tes (erk!), then DS (bigger! higher! beafier! where do they plan to stop? Will there ever be a "Caïne" at a cost of about 20?? lol!) Then AH (Quite the opposite: How to to do...nothing at all...Not even 12 different Vampires of the new clans...) Then last, Sabbat (until October, I mean...): An excellent standalone extension. Perhaps too violent and combat-oriented (as opposed To Assamites, who were sheeps, even M At are dangerous ;-) Apparently Wotc got tired of editing the game, as there were some other, ever more lucrative, games ;-) Then what? As WW got back the game (as I understood it: please correct me if I am mistaken) I was expecting some focusing on the interests and expectations of the conumers and players (hence the forum!!!!). Sabbat WaR (sorry no more WarZ) is ok by me, and I am anxious with anticipation as all of you are: but why on earth is there not a reprinting scheduled for those much needed past Card sets? I focus here of course on "The Sabbat": wouldn't it make sense to have it reprinted so that new players (believe me , there are some! really!!) could benfit from Sabbat AND Sabbat Wars? I would, for once, be very grateful if WW could cut off the speculation tendancy about these past Card Sets: we do not want V:TES (or Jyhad, or whatever) to turn into a magic-like. Players need cards, so I guess it is the interest of WW to sell those to its customers, and our interest to reach card without having to pay more than 250$ for a mere box of Sabbat! ww, please choose between your players and the pesky speculators in Jyhad cards...RE-PRINT THEM!!! Unless of course, WW is already reprinting Sabbat undercover, but only under a "scarcity in shops" policy... I hope not so...

They've got a limited amount of resources to devote to the game. Word is, you need to have _5000_ booster displays sell, just to make a CCG print run _break even_(!?!?!?) Personally, I'd caution WW against simply re-printing, unless the demand is very firmly established. I highly doubt they could get 5000 more displays of AH or DS sold, since so many of their existing customers (those who already play) are looking for new cards. The way they're going is best, IMNSHO, by adding to older expansions, then re-releasing them. This broadens their appeal for new players, and keeps older ones buying, too... Regards, R. The point then should be to give WW assurance about the strengh of the demand. Perhaps polls coould measure it. Better yet: what about , say, a pre-release customers list? Edition: the whole meta-game changes then Not really. You just make the old cards available to new players. Instead of having to fight to get hold of a card that was only in Jyhad - just how are new players expected to get Rotschreck, if they don't live in America? - you might be able to find it in the Sabbat War set. All that does is opens up options to players who didn't easily have access to them before. They could just have borrowed them, or spent lots of money buying them on the net, or singles, or whatever. Now they can own their own. This is not Magic, where cards in old sets become unplayable. -- James Coupe

In a game like Magic that has continual expansions and a main set through which previous cards are perpetually being rotated into and out of, that's because the latter has a limited amount of space and they feel the need to motivate people to buy as much of the former as possible. Jyhad is in a completely different situation, at least right now. There's not enough variety of accessible expansions at the moment. If there were, then players wouldn't feel the lack of cool cards out of Sabbat as much because they'd have elsewhere to look. >> The way they're going is best, IMNSHO, by adding to older expansions, then >> re-releasing them. I think the point of mixing basic set "staple" cards with new expansion cards was to create a standalone game, playable (for instance with sealed deck or draft) using only cards from the expansion. This was true of Magic standalones and of Sabbat and may or may not be the case for Sabbat Wars. I don't know. I haven't heard anyone talk about that point a lot. It sounds like the intent for Sabbat War is to fulfill other purposes (reprint popular but hard-to-find existing cards (esp. in the hard-to-find Sabbat expansion), add new cards, and to reprint heavily errated cards) and no one's really put a though into how appropriate it is for standalone play. I strongly doubt Ancient Hearts and Dark Sovereigns were any more broadly distributed than The Sabbat. A year and a half ago, one could obtain The Sabbat just as easily as the other two. But there's a numbers game that dictates these things. And in this case, the pertinent numbers are about how many good cards are used in what frequency in play and how rare they were in their expansion. Dark Soveriegns had the fewest problems because there really isn't a such thing as a "rare" card in the whole set, relative to any other set. Only uncommons. As such, one didn't have to buy many boxes to get the DS cards he needed and/or wanted and the effect shows up in how many boxes they've sold so far. And more importantly, how many boxes they _haven't_ sold which are therefore still on the market. Dark Soveriegns also had relatively few upper tier cards at all and some of these were commons. Much though I detest steep rarity levels and companies using "good rares" tactics to sell boxes, I'm afraid it does work to a point. The Sabbat was on the other end of the spectrum. It's rares were pretty comparable to a Magic Pack in a standalone expansion (two rare slots out of 28 in a pack and there were 110 different rares) and many of them were pretty good cards or at least fairly important in terms of filling some new function (ex: Awe being only the second truly usable vote enhancing Action Modifier - which is significant in a game that allows you to use only one Action Modifier of a given name in a given action). You had to buy lots of boxes if you wanted to fill in your collection with many of the usable Sabbat cards or you had to trade aggressively, which would have the effect of encouraging others to buy the boxes for what they could bring in trade. It all adds up. Now there's few boxes left to buy from any source. But they were as "broadly distributed" as the other when they were still on the market. Fred
