Ruling Needed - Burst of Sunlight

A group of us have run into the following "not in the rules situation": A vampire of say 4 blood armed with a machine gun enters combat with a vampire of 4 blood who is unarmed. The first vampire sprays his opponent for 4 damage. His opponent plays "burst of sunlight" - HOW IS THE DAMAGE RESOLVED? Two possibilities: 1) Burst of Sunlight does 2 aggravated to both vampires - both in torper - ignore the machine gun damage - it just doesn't matter 2) the machine gun damage is applied first, reducing the one vampire to 0 blood who is then hit with an aggravated wound and is burned Anyone got an idea - any satisfactoryt ruling, especially an OFFICIAL one, would be greatly appreciated by the Jyhad players at Cornell University.
