Agreed. This strategy is far more probable, since a Nos princes deck can
push the necessary votes to put Brinksmanship in play. That won't be the
case for standard slaughterhouse decks. Well, you can combine a few
Harbringers with a Ventrue Prince Deck oriented to mill. 6 Brinkmanship+Awes
and 10 slaughterhouses, backed with enough fortitude...

want some table damage in the deck too.

Basically, yes, I agree, that strategy is now looking a whole lot
stronger.
I can see a few downfalls to avoid:
1) Staying alive. too much milling in your deck, and you have no
defence, so you get ousted after crippling your prey, and everyone
hates you :(
2) Backstreaming from prey - milling is annoying. You get attacked a
lot for doing it. Luckily, HoS are capable of defending like big scary
defendey kinda guys.
3) Passing votes - sure, the HoS *can* do it (particularly if paired
with the !ven), but other players will expect to see Brinkmanship in
your deck, and might save their hosers / intercept up for it...
Delaying Tactics, cross table players lending your predator use of
their intercept locations, stuff like that.
4) Successful withdraws! Your prey might plot against you by hoarding
redirections etc to allow a withdrawl, so you better have a sure way
to cause pool loss / blood loss / combat in that turn. Society of
Leopols / Anarch Revolt would fit the bill... tons of things would. I
guess the point to this one is don't focus too hard on the milling,
with bleed as your only other offence, or you might get thwarted at
the last minute.
---
As to the nuts-and-bolts of using this, personally, I would just
include Brinking and milling as an angle, and not focus the whole deck
there. I would instead play strategy X, with Slaughterhouse milling
happening quietly in the background, to essentially have two offences
going simultaneously.
X for me would probably be a crossover with the !ven, and their
+strength brutes, either vote-based, or something dirty with Society
of Leopold and intercept.

Yo, what about HoS & !Ven, who have better discipline matching than
regular Ven.
Use Lazverinus and the HoS Priscus for a base of 6 votes, which is
probably as many as a Nos prince deck would have. Then use other toys
to trim hostile voters as needed: decapitate them with Lazverinus, or
go softly with Demonstration, Quentin and so on.
Hell, just the regular HoS with their Priscus + Private Audience + TVP
can pass their own votes if they really care to. Well, sometimes.

But a point in favor of the nossies is the new bestial - raptor combo.
Combine with Cock robin for up to 2 raptors a turn.

No, easiest option: Clan Impersonate to HoS with Nossie Princes.
Feline Sabs too.
OR
If you can shake the votes, !Nossies with Couriers, Night Moves,
Feline Sabs, and Clan Imps to HoS with Slaughterhouses. Not enough
easy votes, sure, but more feasible than just HoS and !Ventrue.
And Caliean has PRE, so one vote with an Awe should do it.
Otherwise, it's Ahrimanes with Raptors (Muricias Call plus Hungry
Coyote / Engling Fury and Falcon's Sight).
One thing's for sure, Lupine Assault might actually be good for once!

Wrong statement: That will be 2 votes (archbishop) plus 3 conditional
(priscus). Don't know your metagame, but around here Gratiano is a quite
common vampire to see in play. And that deck hasn't got room enough to add a
combat module for lazverinus IMHO. But you are right that !ventrue should
prove more usefull. Kyle seems a good partner for HoS, and has that superior
PRE needed to push the vote with Awe, plus demonstration, Tel. Vote
Counting, kindred manipulation.

I won't risk to base the whole winning strategy of a deck upon such
conditional possibility. After all, this will be a one-trick-pony deck.

Agreed. But pending a strategy on a CI... How many would you put in a deck
in order to , say, play those 10 Slaughterhouses you will add? 10 feline
saboteurs (without counting slots you will spend in CI) goes for 50 cards
mill. If you are to put 16 FS, that goes for a total amount of 80, enough to
get rid of a couple of decks. I'll try the raptors angle, Robin+Bestial and
eye of Hazimel/archon will do the job quite easily.

In a 140 cards deck, yay, you could try all mill at once. In a 90 cards
deck, that won't seem possible. In my experience with mill decks, it's much
better to focus on 1 or 2 effects, rather than try all possibilities.
Slaughterhouses are crippled by a single vampire: Arika, courier decks are a
really nice option, and it ussually doesn't call the attention of the whole
table as slaughterhouses do. And it has an easy acces to both feline
saboteur and votes due to Cailean.

When the bestial recruits a raptor it is at inferior ani.... And after

I suspect that the idea is to put a master: discipline card on it
first... then use heidelberg to swap tha raptor for more blood.

Nope, agaitas, and toreadors with votes... Anson, masika, etc...
Anson will help cycle cards masters(play your prey's blood dolls or
minion taps) Aura reading, Infernal pursuits (which kicks but with
agaitas ability) Read Intentions as your strike card... (agaitas can
use that...) It's all fun... =D

Oh yeah, Laz is an ArchBishop, not a Cardinal. Me bad... however, 5
votes is still a decent starting point. Around here, only myself and
one other player field the Lasombra, so Gratiano doesn't get out much.
I don't see the basis for the 'not enough room' comment - maybe cos we
are thinking along different lines. This is the deck that pops into my
own messy head:
Main vamps - Lazverinus, Gisela, and the new !Ven, Joseph O'Grady (7
cap, FOR DOM aus cel, has +1 strength and can burn a blood for a
vote). Maybe the smaller HoS, for the !ven to Govern onto. Cool note -
Joseph can get votes, but is not actually titled, so he is a nice
potential Anarch :-)
The mill-module could be just 10 cards: 5 slaugterhouse, 3 Brinks, and
a couple of vote helpers (Demonstration, Powerbase Madrid). Just
enough to make the critical votes pass, and enough milling so that
your prey is the first to get decked.
That would leave a *ton* of room for aus/for, fang-tearing action...

Again I disagree, but maybe just cos I am visualising the miller
differently - IMO, the mill module can be pretty small, so I don't see
why such a deck *must* be a 1-trick pony.

No, you only need one active HoS to bring out Slaughterhouses. Nossie
princes plus one or two "cheap" nossies. The Cheap nossie impersonates
and out come the Slaughterhouses. Or, at a pinch, you CI, and then
change back to get the votes.

That's what I'm getting at. Although only one has ANI at the start, a
Heidleburg would pass the love around, and Sanguine Instruction / ANI
masters would toke them up. Or for +1 fun include Blaise, Feral Spirit
and a shack load of Psyche!

5. You only need one active HoS. Or, you could cheat and add, say 3
and a Sargon Fragment or two - Burn the Slaughterhouses until you have
a HoS, then fish them out.
10 feline
> saboteurs (without counting slots you will spend in CI) goes for 50 cards
> mill. If you are to put 16 FS, that goes for a total amount of 80, enough to

The strategy is to get lots of Slaughterhouses up quickly (Parthenon,
Rumours...) and use them to mill your prey's deck in, say best case, 7
turns. In that time you pass the vote. The Felines give you a boost,
so maybe 10 FS. Lupine Assault gives you an extra 5 card mill boost.
Best possible case:
Turn one:
Parthenon
Bring out Krid
Turn 2:
Lupine Assualt
Dimple Clan impesonates
Total Mill: 5 cards
Turn 3:
2x Slaughterhouses (mill 4 cards)
Krid Hunts
Bring out Ellison Humboldt
Total Mill: 9 cards
Turn 4:
2x Slaughterhouses (mill 8 cards)
Ellison Humboldt calls the vote with BO, Awe and Voter cap. Cryptic
Rider
Krid calls rumours of Gehenna
Total Mill: 17 cards
Turn 5:
2x Slaughterhoueses (mill 12 cards)
Minion Tap
Feline Sab (mill 5 cards)
Krid does something
Influence another Prince
Total Mill: 29 cards
Turn 6: 3x Slaughterhouses (mill 18 cards)
Feline Sab x2 (mill 10 cards)
Krid does something
Total Mill: 57 cards
Turn 7: 1x Slaughterhouse (mill 20 cards)
Minion Tap
Something else
Feline Sab x2 (mill 10 cards)
Krid does something
Total Mill: 87 cards
Assuming your prey actually plays more than 3 cards in 7 turns, that's
them on the ropes.
However, this clearly doesn't count for the rest of the table,
anything going wrong, worst card draw etc etc. It also takes 14
Masters in the right place, and only 11 other cards. Dicey at best.
I'll try the raptors angle, Robin+Bestial and
> eye of Hazimel/archon will do the job quite easily.
That'll fly. Although I have yet to see the full Bestial text. I know
he auto recruits animalism retainers, but not sure how.

Is there a "kill Arika" vote in the Anarchs set? Maybe in the Black
Hand... ;)
You can't scrap a whole deck on the basis of one vampire. I'd be more
inclined to worry about the fact you'll be stealth bled out by turn 5
with most nossies...

I did a Meddling of Semsmith deck with Raptors and Ahrimanes that
worked (just). To be honest, their low stealth was a bigger concern.
ANI can be upgraded eaasily (Sanguine Instruction, Masters) or you can
Feral Spirit the likes of Bear Paw.

He might be counting cards spent. For every BS you play (to your ash heap),
you cause each given Methuselah to lose 1 card. You haven't gained ground.

You play one card, everyone else looses one card. So basically, you
waste all your card slots forcing people to discard. 90 cards played
by you = 90 cards lost by everyone else.
How do you expect to:
1) Force a vote through with a pile of untitled Anarchs (don't say
"Fee Stake" or "Presence Mods" coz you don't have the card slots).
2) Get rid of everyone's pool and (more importantly) stop other
methusulas being ousted in the 80+ actions you'll need to generate to
mill the table (don't say Life Boon, you don't have the card slots)
3) Stop yourself being ousted in the 80+ actions it will take to mill
the table (don't say bleed bounce or intercept, you don't have the
card slots - and no slots for combat if you get hold of people)
4) Stop everyone else from laughing themselves silly as you attempt to
take 80+ actions to mill the table.

Border Skirmish is something to irritate people, but not a game winner
per se. Maybe (just maybe) if you had either Pochtli or Waste
Management Ops you could stack up and devote, say, 40 card slots to
Border Skirmishes, but hey! There's still that irritating "vote"
problem...

where cards lost by everyone else =90 * # of players.

maybe i don't use 90 Border Skirmish. Maybe I count on other people,
say...ohh...i don't know....playing some of their own cards?

hang on.....why am i defending this? i never said it was a good
idea... i just said border skirmish doesn't make you discard a card.
i think i'll bail right about now before i get myself in too deep. :)

Hi from Australia!,
Having a great time, wish you were here. It's a bit cold, but then
anyone that knows the southern hemisphere is just about in winter
would expect that. The people are great, but they speak funny. It's
closer to English English than American English, but still a bit
wrong. Food's ok, although not really much in the way of "Australian"
cuisine. Water is very clean and drinkable here in Canberra.
Anarchs expansion was released here a few hours before a lot of the
rest of the world, so I am glad I made the trip. New cards are great.
Must dash, got to catch my connecting flight,
salem.

I briefly worked on a Meddling of Semsith and Jan Pieterzoon the
Anarch (won't Hardestadt be dissapointed), with their good friend High
Priest Angra Mainou. Luckily they're finding this year to be a Year of
Fortune. But I built it all wrong to make up for the fact that I had
only 2 Jan and 1 Angra spare. :P
It was a piece of poo. Even if it did tie for a win with a 2/2/1
five-player game last night.
I think the temporis cloggin my hand and the true brujah not coming up
hurt, as did getting a salubri and no obeah.
I told you i built it all wrong. :)

You play Border Skirmish from your hand = You lose one card
When Border Skirmish resolves, everyone else loses a card.
You all lose a card. :)

Too true.
Josh
obviously people don't mind not being able to play cards in
their card games...
