This has appeared on a few web forums as the next promo card. ------------ Wall Street Night, Financial Newspaper Master: Unique Location 1 Pool Tap during an undirected action to give a minion you control +1 intercept for the current action. Tap to select a minion you control. Once this turn, the chosen minion may move a counter from an investment card controlled by any methuselah to your pool as a +1 stealth action. ------------ http://presence.vekn.org/viewtopic.php?t=291 http://membres.lycos.fr/britvtes/forum/viewforum.php?f=1 Any truth to the rumors?

Answering your question with the part you yourself quoted: > > Currently only available at a Qualifier near you. > > > > Oscar Garza > > OrgPlay That would tend to imply - okay, directly state - that it's only available at a Qualifier right now. Of course, 'normal people' can go to a Qualifier if they like; before someone bitches about how they can't manage to get to one, I'll point out that many, many, many people who play VTES also have to travel some incovenient distance to attend one, just like in every year that Qualifiers have been held in the past. Some of them make the effort, and part of their reward for doing so is getting this sort of card before everybody else. Thus the concept of a 'promotional' item - it promotes the idea of making the effort to attend a qualifier. At least it's something that is not going to _exclusively, only ever_ be limited to those folks (as lots of other gaming companies put out promo cards and do NOT then circulate them more extensively). > Fred -John Flournoy

Well, that _did_ seem to be the case in the previous two promos that were issued. Retribution was issued last year about this time and didn't seem to be availalbe in normal tournament packages until at least during the summer. Therefore, for several months it was only available at qualifiers, AFAIK. Spontaneous Power was issued last year around June as AFAIK was only available at qualifiers and continental championships. I don't even know if it can be obtained now in mundane tournament prize packages. I believe I have heard that people have seen it there and some folks are selling it on EBAY in numbers I wouldn't expect unless they were. But I have yet to see one I know was obtained that way. Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to otherwise about this new promo. I am begging to hear that there won't be another 6-month delay or so like there seemed to be on the previous two. Or that those delays weren't deliberate and planned as such. It just seems to be a bit premature to be issuing yet another promo at qualifiers when Spontaneous Power apparently just hit regular tournament packs. > Of course, 'normal people' can go to a Qualifier if they like; before > someone bitches about how they can't manage to get to one, I'll point > out that many, many, many people who play VTES also have to travel some > incovenient distance to attend one, Well, I mean, "normal people" can throw their cash from helicopters, too. But that usually doesn't fit into a the normal people lifestyle. This is the same kind of let-them-eat-cake answer I kept getting when I pointed out how incredibly biased a rating system is that in practical terms strongly favors people who live near a high density of tournaments. Some people can easily travel to their choice of CQs within a few hours. Others - like me - can get in a car and drive five hours to one tournament that will happen on a specific weekend four months from now and all the other ones are effectively a plane fight away. And then there are the people who don't live on a continent that will have any CQs. I mean, sure, people always have the option to travel to some qualifer somewhere if they try hard enough. So noted. In practice, it means rank and file players - those who just aren't so crazy about the game that they plan vacations around it - in many places just don't get the cards for a long time. As opposed to being in one of the privileged areas where a CQ might happen two blocks away. Does it "kill the game"? Well, no. But it doesn't help things. The point of issuing promos is supposed to create good will and additional interest in the game. Not tick people off and rub their noses in privleges they can't get. > Thus the concept of a 'promotional' item - it promotes the idea of > making the effort to attend a qualifier. Fine. They can promote that idea with promos that are _already_ in tournament packs. I don't see how qualifiers really need to grant some special unique thing to get people to show up. The chance to qualify and/or to compete against people who want to is quite attraction enough. > At least it's something that is not going to _exclusively, only ever_ > be limited to those folks (as lots of other gaming companies put out > promo cards and do NOT then circulate them more extensively). No, I'll grant that at least that final insult to the non-advantaged is spared. I suppose I should be grateful for that. It just seems so unnecessary to pulling this kind of stuff for this purpose, though. (If that's actually supposed to be the point.) Fred

That makes them special. Some people pay 100$ for it on ebay, they should have used the money to go to a qualifier ;-) -- johannes walch

Even when promo X or Y is not intended to enter regular tournament packs only after a year or so, most ditributors have a stock of older packs without promo X or Y and will only order new packs with X or Y when they're done with the older ones. That alone accounts for the N-months delay some locations on the world get to see those 'new' promos. I do hope that Angelo and Genina appear in the qualifier kits, though, and in large numbers (30+). We didn't have access to the magazines and importing them proved to be very tricky or expensive due to currency exchange issues. I won't build any Samedi group 3-4 deck without Genina - without her the grouping pair is worse than 2-3 in almost every aspect except for including one or two Samedis along with vampires of other clans, such as Trogloditya in a Harbinger deck and so on. best, Fabio "Sooner" Macedo

Which - since all princes can hold every Storyline that comes down the pike*** - is fairly reasonable. *** - And I do. Fred
