I have a vampire with a Homunculus and Vampyric Disease. Even if my vampire is currently untapped, can I pay for the Homunculus untap every untap phase during a trip around the table to intentionally lower my blood to zero, so I can get rid of the Disease faster, when I truly untap while tapped? More generally, can you pay for something when you don't get any benefit? Is this just considered a fizzle of the ability, or is it successful? Thanks. Jeff

Untapping a target is successful if the target exists, even if the target is untapped already.
