Superior Rutor's Hand has errata that the damage is treated as if from a strike in combat. So, you could use Skin of Rock to prevent it, Skin of Night to convert it to normal (and prevent it, at superior), and even use Skin of Steel to prevent it, since it is treated as a strike. You couldn't, however, use Strike: Dodge to avoid it, since you are not given the opporunity to strike in response. -- L. does this mean that merill molitor can simply use his special skill to change the 1 aggravated for the rutor's hand to normal? or does his skill apply only to combat? shauna

[ quoted text not captured ] Merrill's special ability only works during combat, as per card text. Note that the errata for superior Rutor's Hand states that the damage is to be treated as if from a strike in combat. This errata allows combat effects, including Merrill's special ability, to be used. So, while Merrill cannot change the damage done from an inferior Rutor's Hand to normal, he can change the damage done by a superior Rutor's hand to normal. Why Merrill would ever take the inferior version of this action is another issue :-). [ quoted text not captured ]
