If a merged vampire is burned, can it then be possessed (or deamonic posssesed)? If so, do one get the merged vampire or one of the base or the advanced? Can one choose which? -- /Henrik Isaksson

Can one choose which? The vampire can be retrieved. You can retrieve either the base or the advanced. The merged version doesn't exist in the ash heap, so cannot be retrieved. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. So if a merged vamp is burned and that vampire's controller Possesses the base version back into play, would it be possible for another player to Daemonically Possess the advanced version, thereby contesting? Could you possess both versions and merge them?

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] No. Possession offers no merge capability. The only card that offers a merge capability is Gift of Experience. Barring card text that effects a merge (like GoE), the only way to merge is as defined in the rules. [ quoted text not captured ]

And what about if you posses the main version and then the advanced?, is this legal? and if so.. I suppose that the later will merge the original... doesn't it? [ quoted text not captured ] I think that would violate the rule about self-contesting. Just like I couldn't have The Baron I control attempt to Possess a burned The Baron from my ash heap (or Daemonically Possess it from someone else's). Remember, a base version of a vampire contests with the advanced (or merged) versions as though they were the same vampire. Also, no reason it would merge. LSJ already covered that. Matt Morgan

However, you could Possess one version, Banish it, then Possess the other version and THEN merge them. Oh yeah.
