This came up last weekend in a game, and we were unsure of the timing... A famed vampire with fortitude bleeds his prey. His grandprey has 3 pool. The famed vampire plays Daring the Dawn and sufficient action modifiers to oust his prey, then goes torpor. Does his Grandprey get ousted as well in the same action resulting in 2 VP's and 12 pool for the famed vampire's controller? Or does fame affect the prey (it's a question of timing for the fame effect). We played it the double ousted way, but it felt real wrong...and I'm sure it's because of fame. ____________________________________________________________________ Ethan Burrow V:EKN - Austin Prince of Austin http://www.ddg.com/ethan/austin.html et...@ddg.com http://www.ddg.com/ethan/ ____________________________________________________________________

I think you decide whether or not someone is ousted at the end of any action. The action by this vampire does not end until he goes to torpor. So right up to that point, your prey remains the same. But of course I could be wrong, as you rightly point out it is all about timing. I'd be interested to know if my answer is right.

You played it correctly. The acting vampire doesn't go to torpor until after the action is complete (card text on Daring the Dawn), which is after his original prey has been ousted (and his controller getting a VP and 6 pool). Then, when he goes to torpor, his current prey (the old grandprey) takes a three pool loss to the Fame and is ousted (so his controller gets another VP and 6 more pool). -- L.
