Just out of curiosity, and as an extention to a brief discussion on
#vtes.
I have Demdemah and a gehenna card in play. Demdemah recruits a damage
dealing animal retainer, modifying the action with a tainted spring.
In his untap phase demdemah converts said retainer to an animal ally.
Does the newly created animal ally:
A) Still do +1 damage.
B) Gain +1 strength instead of +1 damage (functionally the same as A)
C) Loose all benefit from the tainted spring as it is now a different
beastie entirely

Action succeeds. Wolf Companion (retainer) has 4 life and inflicts 2 damage.
During your untap phase, Dem uses his ability to move the retainer to the ready
region as an ally with 1 strength (and keeping whatever life it still had at
that point). While it has 3 or more life, it gets an additional +1 strength from
Dem's text, but the Tainted Spring doesn't carry through to the ally created by
Dem's special.
