I hope this hasn't already been answered, but I can't find it here if so. If you play an Obedience card on a minion that is using a directed action against you (such as ? Zho performing a directed action to steal blood from a vampire), can that minion use the same action on another minion or Methuselah? (i.e.- Zho was blocked from stealing from Cassandra, so now he will attempt to steal from Nik). Our group is divided, I feel the type of action being performed is prevented (i.e.- the minion Zho could attempt to bleed, but could not again this round attempt to steal from ANY vampire), but others feel he can do it again, just not from that same vampire. I can see it both ways, especially since a certain vampire plays it, but want to know the 'official', or at least majority opinion. Thank you in advance.

When using an action card (or an action described on a card in play), including equipment/allies/retainers/political actions, the same card is the only thing that qualifies as the same action. When attempting a cardless action, the same action type counts, not the target. so ?Zho could not switch targets to generate a "new" action. -- ----- L. Ignoring for the moment the bit about "younger vampire" and assuming that Obedience would work on Thaddius Zho, I think that he would be able to steal from someone else by the 'official' rulings. Remember, to the DT, each action is very specific, and "Rescue Rikki from torpor" is different than "Rescue Nik from torpor", so "steal from Rikki" would be different from "steal from Nik", while "Social Charm my prey" is the same no matter how many times you throw down the card. Now, as to my personal opinion, I'd play that he can't do it again. | If you've got a hot lead on a new | *--Joe--* | PC game, call the announce line at | js...@vt.edu | ** csi...@discus.ise.vt.edu ** | +-------------------------------------+---------------------------------- "Carnivores, oy!" -- Timon, TLK

The current "official" rule is that if you use a card then it's the same action even with a different target, but if it's cardless then a different target makes it a different action. Don't ask me where they came up with THAT ruling. My group plays that chosing the target does not cause you to be performing a different action. In any case, I see no plausible reason for different rules for carded and cardless actions. >Our group is divided, I feel the type of >action being performed is prevented (i.e.- the minion Zho could attempt to >bleed, but could not again this round attempt to steal from ANY vampire), >but others feel he can do it again, just not from that same vampire.
