If a new vampire is brought into play because of a minion's action (say: superior Enchant Kindred, Accounting, Embrace, or Progeny), can the vampire so acquired act on the same turn? I would have said no; there seems to be a metarule that minions brought into play (recruited allies or influenced vampires) come into play untapped but at the end of the acting players' turn, so they can block if necessary but cannot act until next turn. But the Embrace card specifically says that the vampire so created must hunt on the turn it is brought in. Is this an exception? papillo the populist

Well... I don't know where you get this metarule from... Vampires usually cannot do anything in the round they are brought into play because they come out in the Influence phase, which occurs when the Minion phase is over. If they come out untapped in the Minion phase, I see nothing wrong with them acting in that phase if needed. - Tor Iver -- Tor Iver Wilhelmsen <toriver@pvv.unit.no> CS student at NTH, Trondheim, NO Info: http://www.pvv.unit.no/~toriver/ Member of The Software Workshop, UNIT Stem JA den 28. november! Cards that add blood to an uncontrolled vampire (Enchant Kindred, Govern the unaligned, etc.) stay uncontrolled until your influence phase, even if they are filled to capacity. Minions who are recruited (AKAIK) can take actions the turn they are brought into play. As for Vampires that are created via progeny, embrace, I presume they could take actions as well. I don't believe there is anything similar to "summoning sickness" in Jyhad (thank g*d). -ben -- "I've seen things you wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. Progeny cannot act on the turn they are brought into play; Embrace may only hunt on the turn they are brought into play. DSR

Uncontrolled vampires don't check their blood totals, and thus come into play, until end of influence. Allies cannot act the turn they come into play, and should be placed in your uncontrolled region for the moment to remind you of that (end section 12.3.1, "Recruit Ally"). The vampire created by Progeny/Embrace isn't covered by either of these rules, so just goes straight into your ready region, and has to hunt as its action for the turn (card text). I think this is wrong. Allies that are recruited are put into a "special area" because they cannot act during the turn they are recruited. I don't remember the exact section of the rulebook, though. Would this change your interpretation? papillo the analgesic

Well, wait a second. The Progeny card says that the vampire has to hunt...the Embrace says that the vampire cannot act...or maybe it's the other way around. Anyway, this is just an "I don't have every card in front of me at all times" thing, right, Tom? ----------------------------------------------------- Jerrod Ankenman jiankenman@ucdavis.edu Prince of Davis

Oops, you're right, I didn't think to look at Progeny, which says the new vampire cannot act that round. Embrace says the new vampire can only hunt.
