Hello, I've some questions I couldn´t find answers for in the rulings and clarifications: 1. Who chooses the new acting vampire strike after using 'Primal Instincts', the controller of the opposing vampire or the one who played PI? (Card text: (S) Cancel this <acting> vampire's strike and choose a new one) 2. This is a situation that happened on a game: A vampire with Superior Protean didn´t have any blood counter left at the beggining of his controller turn so it had to hunt, but it was intercepted. The combat starts but this hungry vampire uses Earth Melt at Sup. then the combat ends and untaps... according to the rules of S:CE he can´t hunt again, but here´s the question: can he do OTHER action even when he has not any blood left? (i.e. bleeding, political action). Thanks a lot, I. Lerth -- (Fantasy Library) http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/1341/amazon Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

(i.e. bleeding, political action). No. The only action a ready, empty, untapped vampire can take is: hunt. If he is prohibited from hunting, he can take no actions. -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. In the revised rulebook, under section 6.1.2 (hunting), it states [ _emphasis_ mine ] : "Any time during a Methuselah's minion phase that one of her ready untapped vampires is empty ( _and_ _not_ _otherwise_ _prohibited_ _from_ _hunting_ ), he must hunt immediately, before any other action is taken by any minion." So vampires who are a) empty and b) not prohibited from hunting must hunt. But this doesn't say anything about empty vampires who *are* prohibited from hunting (say, by the DCI no repeat action rule.) Other areas of the rulebook and the rules outline state that only ready, untapped minions can perform actions, but there doesn't seem to be anything about empty vampires only being able to hunt. In the rulings, there is nothing about this under "Vampires," "Hunting," or "Actions." So, where's this rule anyway? -davey!

It has not been reversed. > "Any time during a Methuselah's minion phase that one of her ready > untapped vampires is empty ( _and_ _not_ _otherwise_ _prohibited_ _from_ > _hunting_ ), he must hunt immediately, before any other action is taken by > any minion." > > So vampires who are a) empty and b) not prohibited from hunting must hunt. > But this doesn't say anything about empty vampires who *are* prohibited > from hunting (say, by the DCI no repeat action rule.) Right. The idea is hinted at by the use of parentheses (that is: without the parentheses, a problem arises). The rule itself is too much of a "corner case" to be explictly recorded in the rules. > Other areas of the rulebook and the rules outline state that only ready, > untapped minions can perform actions, but there doesn't seem to be > anything about empty vampires only being able to hunt. > > In the rulings, there is nothing about this under "Vampires," "Hunting," > or "Actions." Hmm. It used to be. But you're right: it's not there now. I'll remedy that in the next update. Thanks. [ quoted text not captured ]
