The following situation a vampire has a Ghoul Retainer and a Weapon. The vampire strikes hands, the Ghoul Retainer uses the weapon. The opposing vampire destroys the weapon with first strike. Will the Ghoul retainer now do his default 1 damage or none? regards pallando --------------- pallando(at)gmx(dot)at

The controller declared a strike, which get's cancled by the destroy weapon with first strike, so no strike then. Ghoul retainer follows same rulings as a vampire would.

Strike declaration (aka "Choose Strikes"): A: I strike hands (for 1). B: I strike steal/destroy weapon at first strike. Strike resolution: First Strike: Resolve the incoming steal/destroy weapon strike against A. Other strike resolution: Hands for 1 on B and Ghoul Retainer's effect (for 1 unless A has another weapon). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Incorrect. The Ghoul Retainer does not technically declare it's effect until strike resolution (by card text). So, the weapon gets destroyed in the first strike resolution, and the Ghoul Retainer is free to hands for 1. --Colin McGuigan
