hello some questions about Vtes: - we had a game in which a vamp played fast reaction and the opposing vampire had a .44 magnum - the question that came up was if the maneuver of the magnum could be used to go to long range while knowing striking will not be possible. (i expect hidden lurker to work in the same way) - i guess you cannot play freak drive after a hidden lurker (2nd vamp) because there is no action? alternatives? monster? - does your vampire untap at the end of your turn when playing magic of the smith while nra pac is in play? - if you have agaitas in play, and ira rivers plays an auspex card, can you draw both of your preys library? (suppose not but ...) - can you dicard a card from the Erciyes Fragments in your discard phase, or when downsizing hand size? thank you

(i expect hidden lurker to work in the same way) No. If you're prohibited from striking with a weapon (for any reason), then you cannot use the maneuver from it. Note that in some cases, you can be prohibited from using the weapon after you've already maneuvered with it. In that case, no you don't have to travel back in time, you just don't get any strike at all. > - i guess you cannot play freak drive after a hidden lurker (2nd vamp) because there is no action? alternatives? monster? No, I don't think so. But I think the acting vamp can play Freak Drive before that methuselah plays their Hidden Lurker. Wouldn't expect to see it much except with Samedi... I'm not 100% sure on this answer. > - does your vampire untap at the end of your turn when playing magic of the smith while nra pac is in play? Yes. > - if you have agaitas in play, and ira rivers plays an auspex card, can you draw both of your preys library? (suppose not but ...) Nope. Agaitas can only draw the normal replacement for a card you play from your prey's library. Not any "additional" cards or cards to replace discards. > - can you dicard a card from the Erciyes Fragments in your discard phase, or when downsizing hand size? ??? No. I'm not sure if I'm misreading the question because if you're downsizing your hand size, the card on the Erciyes Fragment has nothing to do with anything... In any case, the only way to get the card off the Erciyes Fragment is to play it.

thanks for the quick reply!

You'll find that most of the time on BGG you can get quick rules answers day or night because people subscribe and get notified whenever one of their favorite games gets a post. V:TES is a little bit less popular on BGG, but there's still usually a few of us hanging around. If you posted a thread like this on the Puerto Rico forums, you'd probably have 5 responses before you could blink. :D

Hidden Lurker Type: Action Modifier Requires: Obfuscate Only usable by a ready untapped vampire other than the acting minion. Only usable after a combat between the acting minion you control and a blocking minion. [obf] Tap this vampire. This vampire enters combat with the blocking minion. The first round of this new combat, the blocking minion cannot strike. [OBF] As above, with an optional press. The second vampire is not acting and can't play Freak Drive. Monster would work though. > arkayn wrote: > > > - can you dicard a card from the Erciyes Fragments in your discard phase, or when downsizing hand size? > ??? In any case, the only way to get the card off the Erciyes Fragment is to play it. Correct- if you put a 'once per game' card on the Erciyes Fragments that has already been played the Fragment is locked for good because there is no way to get the card off. You can get the answers to these questions (and more) by putting searching the Usenet group archive using the card names + LSJ (the former rulesmonger and netrep) http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad... (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/topics) so LSJ + "NRA PAC" + "Magic of the Smith" for example

ok, thank you very much. i will search harder next time before posting.

Searching harder is optional. It's just a matter if you want instant answers at the expense of extra work (hunting down official responses on an obscure USENET newsgroup) that even then may be obsolete (reversed in a later printing, for example) or whether you don't mind waiting for an answer on this board.
