[LSJ] Vagabond mystic, his ability, and block

Funny situation happened last night : Methuselah A is bleeding with an ally. Methuselah B declares a block with vagabond mystic. Methuselah A says: "ok, you successfully blocked." Methuselah B then declares that he is using vagabond mystic''s ability to give blood to another ally he controls, and than he blocks. Is this legal? We figured that, since impulse passed from meth a to meth b, meth b was indeed entitled to use vagabond mystic's ability, but the question is : is the block then successful? Or we are getting this all wrong... Hope i made situation clear enough... Thanks in advance!
