Q: about political actions

I have several questions that, after reading the V:tES manual, have surfaced about political actions. (1) Acording to the rulebook, you announce a political action by "tapping the vampire and announcing that she is calling a vote". Do you need to show that you have a political action card before doing this? Do you need to show which card is it? Political actions are blocked "before the player calling the vote announces all the terms of the vote". Does this mean that the blocking players do not even know WHICH vote is it that they are blocking? Or does the acting minion has to show the specific card they are using to call the vote (thus, the player would know that a vote is being called to name an Archon, but they wouldn't know which vampire will be named as such). (2) If you don't need to show the political card when announcing your action, and the acion is blocked, is the political card still discarded? (acording to the "Rules of Thumb for blocking", p. 21 of the rulebook, it should be). But, if the card is unseen until the voting actually begins, what prevents the Methuselah calling the vote from discarding another, less vital, political card? I apreciate the help, and I'd apreciate that all people answering my question cite an official source for the answer, so that there can be no question about the validity. Thanks.

Do > you need to show that you have a political action card before doing > this? Yes. In general, there is no card concealment in this game. Every time you do something that requires a card (maneuver/press, strike, some bleeds, some votes, etc.), you have to show the card to prove that you're actually doing it. So you say "OK, minion X is going to do action Y" and if action Y requires a card, you put it face up on the table, tossing it in your ash heap when the action is over. > Political actions are > blocked "before the player calling the vote announces all the terms of > the vote". Does this mean that the blocking players do not even know > WHICH vote is it that they are blocking? This means that you don't have to say who you're hitting with a Kine Resources Contested until after people have declined to block. It doesn't matter with votes that don't have this kind of choice (like Domain Challenge). For officialness, LSJ is about as good as you're going to get... I doubt something so obvious (yet subtle) like "all cards are played face up" is in the rulebook... No, the terms are not set (i.e., cannot be set) before the action is successful (i.e., remains unblocked). Before the block attempts/declines, you can promise to set the terms in a certain fashion, but nothing prevents you from changing your mind when the time comes to actually set the terms.
