Ok, posted this b4, but was the wrong way because I'm severely ill and wasn't thinking right early in the morning.. but this is what I actually wanted to ask... If my andrea giovanni stole the ankara citadel, and path of bone was in play.. 1) Do I get shambling hordes for free? as in 3 / 2 = 1 (count downwards), then 1 - 1 = 0 cost?? or.... 2) Does the path of bone take place first as it is a master card, then the citadel, and still makes it cost 1 blood from andrea? as in 3 - 1 = 2, 2 / 2 = 1 (count downwards) I even have another deck that involves that combo, but gonna take it apart if #2 is the correct form :( Thanks for reading.

Sweet! Thanks LSJ! However, still a little confused after reading the post you pointed out.. is it based on cost first, then burn second? or is it based on location first, then master second? Thanks again for reading this post. LSJ <vte...@white-wolf.com> wrote in message news:<3EF1C377...@white-wolf.com>... [ quoted text not captured ]

If I read this correctly, it doesn't actually determine an order for applying Ankara Citadel and Path of Bone reductions (since both change how much blood the vampire burns in relation to the cost). My take would then be that the controller chooses what order to apply the effects in. Correct? Josh necronomical

Correct? No. Per the Google link given, Ankara says that he pays half the cost and the Path says he burns one less when doing so. Which leads to the same effect as applying Ankara before Path in an arithmetic formulation. [ quoted text not captured ]

Are you saying that Ankara *does* change the cost? I would have thought that "pays only half of the blood cost" is just another way of writing "burns half as much blood as the card costs", which would be an equivalent (though different) effect to the Path-type effects. Or is there another reason I'm missing that makes it different from Path's cost-payment-reduction? Josh path of burnt blood

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] No. Per before. Ankara says you pay half the cost. > have thought that "pays only half of the blood cost" is > just another way of writing "burns half as much blood as > the card costs", which would be an equivalent (though > different) effect to the Path-type effects. Or is there > another reason I'm missing that makes it different from > Path's cost-payment-reduction? Path: "burn 1 less blood when playing cards that require [Discipline]". Q: One less than what? A: Than the amount of blood the vampire would pay otherwise. Ankara: The vampire pays half the "cost". (Not "burn half as much as he would have otherwise"). So figure the cost of the card. (Neither Ankara nor the Path affect this). With the cost figured, the vampire pays half the cost. And the vampire burns 1 less blood. [ quoted text not captured ]

I was thinking that "pay half the cost" was the same as "pay half of the amount of blood a vampire would normally burn to play the card" based on my intuition of what "cost" meant. My confusion is clarified. :-) Josh now i've got it

You need no rulebook for an awnser, just your mathbook. first multiply and divide, then add and substract. Oortje
