We have been getting conflicting stories around town. One story is that Jyhad is due out Any Day Now, while the other states that the release has been pushed back a month, into September. What is the official word? Randy

However, the printing presses have been breaking down a lot, so the initial release is going to be small. It's entirely possible that your store won't be seeing cards until September. I'm no longer saying "Avoid Magic. Buy Jyhad." to newbies. Someone post a review ASAP. I don't mind the game, but it doesn't have the addictive properties of Magic b/c it's harder to know what cards you need to build a deck, and the art is "separate but equal" to Magic. If you like cyberpunk and vampires in three-piece suits, this art is a must-see. Unlike Magic's colors, Jyhad uses icons, and anyone who uses a Mac wonders, icons aren't easy to follow. ex. Obfuscation: A black symbol on a black icon on a black-bordered black background. We also had a difficult time following the rules, and the rules use everyday words differently from everyday life (eg. "Bleeding" is an offensive move). The cards, however, don't have the interaction problems Magic has. DEFINITELY wait until someone teaches you to play this game before buying it. Cedric.

On 18 Aug 1994 19:10:46 GMT did Cedric Chin speak unto us: : Unlike Magic's colors, Jyhad uses icons, and anyone who uses a Mac wonders, : icons aren't easy to follow. ex. Obfuscation: A black symbol on a black : icon on a black-bordered black background. "What is this? Some sort of Intergalactic Hyper Hearse?" --Zaphod Beeblebrox -- Timothy Binder (techno@netaxs.com) (techno@cyber.com) Phila. SF Society (PSFS) -- Philcon 94 Committee (dj &tc.) As a lark, we decided to do parodies of the Multics environment. We looked at Multics and designed the new system to be as complex and cryptic as possible to maximize casual users' frustration levels, calling it Unix as a parody of the Multics, as well as other more risque allusions. -- Ken Thompson, UnixWorld Software Development Forum
