Howdy,
I'm certain I know the answer to this, but the other player involved
was certain he did too, so it's a job for LSJ...
How much blood does it cost to leave torpor using Rapid Healing?
Rapid Healing [Jyhad, V:TES, SW, FN, CE]
Cardtype: Action
Discipline: Fortitude
+1 stealth action. Only usable by a vampire in torpor.
[for] The acting vampire leaves torpor. If the vampire is blocked,
there is no combat. If the blocking minion is a vampire who can commit
diablerie, that vampire may diablerize the acting vampire.
[FOR] As above, and the vampire leaving torpor gains 1 blood from the
blood bank.
My answer: no blood at inferior, no blood and gain 1 at superior.
The other player's answer: two blood at inferior, two blood and gain
1 at superior. His reasoning: Rapid Healing has been ruled to be a
'leave torpor' action (Rapid Healing is a type of "leave torpor"
action. [LSJ 19980126]), and the rulebook says (6.5.2 Leave Torpor
action), "...This action costs the acting vampire two blood...."
Checking the ruling, it appears to me to have been made to keep people
from using Rapid Healing to leave torpor without 'leaving torpor', and
thus getting around Mummify. It would also appear to have (old) NRA
implications. But I'm pretty sure it's not meant to suddenly make it
cost two blood and thus wallpaper the card at inferior.
Thanks,
Alex
