I was playing my Leatherface deck again the other night (to test out Steve Bucy's old contention that Beast looked sicker than Ian Forestal at first glance), and another Q about Bum's Rush came up. Specifically, if the Bum's rush is blocked, can you replace it? I see it as somewhat like equipping, with the BR stricture of not replacing immediately akin to an equipment's cost. Thus if blocked, the Meth does not have to pay it. When the BR is blocked, you do get into combat, and the text on the V:TES version says "Do not replace until after combat". However, it is not the Bum's Rush combat, but a blocking combat. We felt that the blocking combat is seperate from the (unsuccessful) rush combat, and thus you can replace. Comments? [ quoted text not captured ] The card is simply working like Arson which also states "Can not be replaced until after combat". If arson is blocked therefor, combat begins, and the card cannot be replaced until after combat.

No. Treat all "Do Not Replace Until After Combat" cards as if they say: "Do not replace until the currect action is completed or any combat comes to an end, whichever comes first" -- L. No. You get no effect of a successful action, since the action isn't successful. The "Do Not Replace" is an effect of playing the card. The combat and maneuver is the result of successful action.
